  1. I just put it in gear and put two c-clamps on the brake discs
  2. Thanks guys. So the key in this case is the type of belt I have. The teeth on my belt are very square, but then I've never seen a rounded tooth belt, so can't tell for sure. Looks like I'll need to buy a gauge as I'm not going to take chances by driving to the dealership with a belt that's maybe not tensioned correctly. Anybody got a link to info on S1 tensioning using a gauge, or are the specs to be used the ones that are in the shop manual? Rgds Dennis
  3. Hello all, as I'm about to set the tension on my new S1 cambelt using TuneIT!, I'ld like to make sure that the specs for doing do are 110Hz at 30 degrees BTDC. Correct? TIA! Dennis
  4. Any news on this kit coming available as I have my suspension apart now....
  5. Yep, did the exact same thing on my S1 this weekend. Replaced 5 of them on the inlet cam carrier. As mentioned: drilling straight is quite easy, tapping straight is little more difficult. I got on stud that didn't align well with the cam housing.... I used the V-coil brand, set of M5, M6, M8, M10, M12 with correct drills (make sure this is in the kit) and taps. Good luck! Dennis btw, the stud thread pitch on my car was 1.25
  6. Hello all, I'm in the middle of replacing this earth strap as well. As some PO left it off, where does it attach to? (both sides) Thx! Dennis
  7. OK, thanks for your replies. In case anyone is interested: both items are currently on www.ebay.co.uk Cheers Dennis
  8. Hi all, did a 907 engine in the S1 have a cover over the timing belt? And a cover over the spark plugs? Thanks!! Dennis
  9. Great, thanks a lot. This confirms a few thoughts I had after staring at it for 15 minutes!
  10. Hi Andy, the pipe you mentioned, it looks like a roll pin, correct?
  11. Hello, up until engine # 11726 one needs to use a gasket between the cam housing and the head. Now, my engine is newer (13393) , but is does have a gasket installed. The workshop manual mentions that for engines after 11726 some sealant is to be used instead combined with an o-ring for which some section of the cam housing is supposed to be machined. Can someone pls explain what the visual differences are between these early and later style cam housings, as I can't see any machined section on my cam housings? Many thanks in advance! Dennis
  12. Probably the silliest question on this forum, but the 907 engine is turning clockwise, correct? That is: when I'm standing in front of the engine at the timing belt end of it, then turning the crank clockwise rotates the crank in the correct direction? What normally tells you which direction the engine turns? Rgds Dennis
  13. Been browsing the web a bit and seems darn impossible to find the beloved 225/60/14 or 235/60/14. Except for the tires meant for the american muscle cars. Bummer....
  14. Bob, thanks for the soundclip. My wife was annoyed by it, so that's a good thing. Sounded like some Le Mans-esque popping & crackling at the end, great
  15. Ah well, that settles it then in favour of the 4-2-1 system. Can't deal with a car that looks faster than it is AND sounds. I will ask Lotusbits if I can fit this without mods. Keep you posted!
  16. Hey guys, I need to decide on which system I'm going to use. Not especially focused on getting the engine to a high state of tune, would the 1200 GBP option be worth it? Will the exhaust system by itself have a significant advantage over the less expensive option, or would it only pay off when combined with other tuning mods? Does anyone have a sound clip of either exhaust? To me, the sound is almost more important than the actual performance increase. Thanks! Dennis
  17. Same here, did this yesterday evening, although needed a 12mm spanner. The spanner being 5 inch long created some space issues, but I found it useful to utilize the 13mm end in cases I could not get the 12 positioned on the nut. Good luck Dennis
  18. All, thanks for the replies and input. I'm very tempted to take the 235/60/14 route. That would (imho) do more justice to the visual appearance of the rear end. Does 235/60/14 fit the regular S1 Wolfrace wheel or do I need to get it widened? Cheers Dennis
  19. Thanks guys. There seems to be quite a price difference: LB: 1200 quid, SJ: 500 quid? Odd
  20. Hello, I'm thinking of filling the rear wheel arches of my S1 by fitting wheel spacers. Has anyone done this? Will it increase the load on the rear bearing & upper link (drive shaft) unacceptably? Looking forward to some thoughts/experiences Regards Dennis
  21. Hello all, it's been while since I visited this board. Lots of other projects distracting me I guess. My question: who sells complete systems (incl. manifold) for the S1 Esprit? Preferrably stainless. Thanks in advance Dennis
  22. Hello, my left window frame has cracked. Does anyone have a frame available? This is for my Esprit S1. Thanks in advance! Dennis
