    Yes, it will prise off using a trim tool. Had to remove mine recently to plug in the fan switch connector that had not been refitted securely.

    I always thought it was for resting the roof on while fitting or removing. Mine is missing and it is a pain, as the roof often falls into the cabin while I fix the first side in place.

    Five presses seems excessive anyway: I have always been a three-press advocate (30+ years across various 900-series engines) but recently have reduced it to two. Although sometimes I do give the choke an exercise for a change.

    When I had the same issue early last year I went for the safe option from Elise Parts. My previous one lasted only four years (source unknown) so I didn't fancy ending up with anything not up to the job.

    That does not happen; the registration being replaced is held against the car and re-applied if the new registration is ever removed. It then becomes "non-transferable". Some local offices may have done things not quite to the book in the past but now that it is centralised, it is a regimented process. I am not a fan of mis-spacing number plates but each to their own. I also note that there is an interesting Emira-related registration in the classifieds.

    Looked fabulous! I had always assumed that the cars were supplied by classic hire companies; did they rent your car for the show?

    It will be interesting to see much more detail of the car (give it a clean, please!) to see exactly how it has come through thirty years of not being on the road, plus exactly what kind of restoration it underwent in the 80s.
