  1. I like the idea of the back end and it looks very smart! are you going to mesh it or leave it open? i have a feeling your car is going to look very smart when finished! i await a nice clean crisp picture of the finished car so i can use it as a screen saver to insire me on future mods on my car regards dan
  2. Im so so sorry to hear the drama your having at the moment Troy the sheer patients and the proffesinal manner you have gone about your restoration of your esprit inspires us all i feel. I hope you overcome this drama soon mate and get her on the road. It just goes to show how much passion we have for these cars because i think if it was any other car i think we would of all given up on them along time ago p.s was it an inlet manifold nut or washer by any chance! i nearly lost one of the basta*ds down the inlet port when i was doing my headgasket in situ! hope to hear your engine running soon regards dan
  3. Hi, I must admit i have a soft spot for yellow coloured esprits, looks very smart and very well looked after by the cleanliness of the engine bay! are the centre of the bbs wheels colour coded yellow aswell! regards dan
  4. Top post yep got most of them tools in my toolbox and wouldnt have them any other way great post regards dan
  5. They look fantastic, i love the fact that the esprit wheels are dished in so much at the rear due to the inboard brakes its just a pitty that our wheel sizes are so unique we have to spend mad money to buy splitrims or spend mad money on hub centric spacers! from looking at that picture i want my baby lowered asap regards dan
  6. I hope you dont mean four bangers i.e esprits I love the esprit its a fantastic car, and yes it can sometimes be a knightmare in traffic, do you know if the clutch has been upgraded i.e a compotition clutch because this can make the clutch pedal and bite a bit of a knightmare in traffic! regards dan
  7. Hi, the door card looks standard to me but im no expert, however the i presume the door cards are fiberglass the same as the g cars, so at least modifying the door cards will be easy well sort of easy, good luck regards dan get the fiberglass out and start moulding
  8. They can start to look at production as early as next year if it gets the go ahead, due to the parts been sourced from other lambos, however they have not decided how many they will produce if production starts! they say maybe 400 but i think it will bee more like a hundred. however they estimate the car to cost
  9. Have a safe journey wayne! god you lucky sod its like the film roadtrip driving through all those states! bugger 2600miles though hope the radios good good luck and hope the engine gremlins dont kick in on those 2600miles regards dan
  10. I think it would be good maybe! I have never tracked a car and would like to track my esprit but slighty worried about smashing it up or killing the engine however if there was a brand new g car with new technology i would run it into the ground! however as wayne said as much as i hate the faults on these cars from electric faults to engine faults and i have had my fare share i am most of the time just as happy working on her in the garage as i am driving her But if the car was produced again i feel quite a few peolw would buy it as a weekend toy because even know these cars look fantastic but then they would loose thier class for been low number built supercars that are rarely seen in numbers apart from meets! and i like the fact that i own a car that you dont see that often, still performs well, and looks and sound fantastic regards dan
  11. He sold me my baby too! infact i think he has supplied many esprits to people on the forum! he a nice bloke nick and most cars dont go for stupid money with him, you can haggle and he always has a few rare bits that come in handy! nice bloke! I like the green v8 but the wife would kill me if i turned up with it as would the bank manager! regards dan
  12. AH wayne so thats what made you buy an esprit it was for the senitimental reason that the door handles reminded you of your old van!
  13. Hi, Have just looked on lotus esprit world at there model specs the sport 350 used 35 profile all round and most esprit v8 used 40 profile front and 35 rear! the last owner of your car may have fitted 35 tyres due to them rubbing on hard cornering on the front! i think 35 profile is a bit to low for your car as the suspension cannot handle it! thats probaly why the sport 350 had 35 profile because the suspension was built to handle it! the bumps you are feeling are not only damageing your car but are also dangerous i would presume! changing back to the standard 89 wheels would be a good idea, But if your like me i dont really like the origanal alloys so changing back would be a shame as the stevens cars look so nice with the later alloys! If i where you i would sell or px the alloys for the GT3 alloys which are 17" and look better than the origanal alloys! and have better more suitable tyre sizes! but please wait out because moving up a profile may help but im sure you will get many more posts from people who know more on the wheel data and tyre data! good look on the mission! regards dan and i hope somebody has info that can help yo
  14. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all the forum members and have a good 2006! regards dan
  15. Started the car today, ran the engine with the expansion cap on! ran the car up to normal running temprature and BINGO she cut in with both fans and cut out after a few mins and then back on a few mins later! normal running temp! nice and warm heater! and one very happy esprit owner! also as an added bonus on running her up i noticed the battery voltage gauge draining again! pushed the wires at the back of the alternator and up went the gauge after a few seconds! so hopefully it just needs a new connector! cheers for the help guys! also cheers keir for the offer of the relays, can you pm me your number and we will have to meet up again regards dan many thanks for the help and suggestions to you all
  16. I have seen one on ebay a few months ago on a series 3 and a series 2 project car about a year ago, i really do not thing a 3500 lump is a good swap for the esprit 16v, the v8 is to heavy! but thats opion! i love the sound but thats about it! the cost involved ie the engine mounts, exhaust and bellhousing and then the fact that its not worth just dropping in an old range rover lump! you would have to but in a very trick v8 that would cost major money! i would invest your money! If i had the spare time and funds i would shove the new audi rs4 all alloy v8 under the hood due to the engine weighting nothing and having major bhp! but yes a 3500 can be fitted, regards dan
  17. Cheers ray and wayne! no the fans go off after about 2mins after switch off! i will run the car up tommorow with the expansion cap on! and see if it makes a difference! the weathers a bit to crap at the moment with the snow to take her out! i understand about the radiator fans been on more due to there been no forced air flow into the radiator! i thinks its just that i have not used the car recently and have always been paranoid about overheating on her! many thanks for the info off everybody regards dan
  18. Happy Birthday Kato, Great respect for the site and may you have many more happy years with your esprit or future esprits! regards dan
  19. never mind gay or not i have just finished playing some music game called buzz for the ps2 with the neighbours next door, slighty pissed ansd return to find no body has posted a reply to my need help on my cooling fans post! as edward basterd would say " utter utter bastar"! get your thinking caps on peeps im on holiday and was expexting a list of to dos today! for tommorow of course! bugger! maybe not then
  20. I know all this big brother seems s**t, and i do not know the ins and outs of it! but somebody told me the other day that from the data bank they will tell if the cars insured, taxed, and has a current mot! not so long ago a survey was done and found that in some places 9 people out of every 10 people lacked either mot, ins, tax. Its not on when you work your nuts off to be legal on the road! and other people drive about with not a care in the world and are not bothered as the law only fines them anyway! i wont go on about this as it makes my blood boil! for these reasons i think its fantastic, but i know they are also going to link it to speeding somehow regards dan
  21. 33% percent had better warn my wife regards dan
  22. Hi everyone! After fitting the new waterpump i found that my thermostat was sticking! with all the dealers i normally use been closed i had no hope of getting one over the christmas period however a small motor factor was open and i had to go in to get some brake pads and discs for the wifes car! i asked on the off chance for a thermostat expecting the reply to be no! but yes they had one the origanal one i replaced was a WAHLER but now i have fitted a QUINTON HAZELL part number QTH104K, i even double checked on there website when i got back to make sure it was the right one! Ran the car up with the heater on hot and all went well, car came up to temprature thermostat opened and system bled and fans cut in! left it running with the expansion cap off and left it ticking over! runs at 970rpm on idle and always sits bang on in the centre between the 75c mark and 90c mark! However my coolant fans did not cut out and as you a result drain my battery! is there something wrong! should i be worrying can the fan switch be tested! the radiator is less than a year old and i flushed it through and its fine! any ideas would be greatly appreaciated as if i scracth my head anymore ill go through to my skull! or am i just worrying over nothing! but i think not!
  23. Hi, Glad to see the old girls up and running at last! regards dan
  24. Hi, i have owned both a stevens and a g car although both where n/a i am not track guru infact im a track virgin! however i feel both cars are both up to the challenge and think you should get the car you like the look of and then pile your money into upraging the brakes, suspention and engine mods! however many people on the forum track there cars so im sure you will get plenty of feedback! regards dan
