Proposed date to be August 19 - 20 (sat & Sun) I will organise this if we can get a minimum 5 - 6 Esprits (the more the better)
Let me know definate numbers ( Esprits / numbers of campers / tents)by 30th June, and I will arrange the site and let you know costs - wont be pricey, camping never is. But I do want a good camp site, a bit of space, for us and cars so I will need to book provisional spaces pretty early which is why I say numbers by end of June. Anybody who wants to arrive Friday, no problem - this can be arranged, but distances involved and Friday night trafic into Devon is busy. Any other questions, let me know.

Don't know if it would be a go-er or not but I'm wondering about the possibility of organising a 1 -2 night camping trip as an Esprit gathering down here in deepest Devon. With the Moors local, and some fantastic beaches on the doorstep. As long as I could organise a good camp sight, the BBQ's and some fine weather, it could be the making of a good weekend. Don't know if owners would be interested or dates any good. Looking at late August (not Bank Hol) If not enough notice for this year may book early for next year. Just interested in getting feedback at this stage. Any comments welcomed.

Fantastic!!! 2 or 3 live games per day at the moment!. What greater way to anoy the wife. Shame its only every 4 years.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but surely the point of a replica is that it should at least vaguely resemble the original car? Is it just me, or am I missing something here?

Its not often someones avatar is as pleasing on the eye as an Esprit pic - Robins getting very close!
Nice pics, by the way.

A nice piece of shagpile bonded to the inside wall of the garage at the position where door opens, makes an ieal door buffer when having to get out of Esprit - in a small garage. (ie 99% of houses built in the last 20 years)

Light looks kind of cool! Are you alowed to keep UK plates on car, permanently or only for a certain period of time?

Not knowing a great deal about the crypton gas analysis test. They did complete a non catalyst (metered) mot gas test. Idle speed - pass. smoke level - pass. CO level - .26% pass. and HC level 99 ppm pass.
Doesn't mean a great deal to me - only the word - Pass, is what I understand.

Never been. Always fancied a visit. Remind myself every time I watch the TT from the comfort armchair.

Really looking forward to the "North Devon Classic" this sunday. Aprox 100 classic and sports cars takepart in a predeturmined 60 or 100 mile route with various country pub stops along the coastline. ( Esprit is entered as car number 86 )
As tax expired end May, went to the local P.O. yesterday, only to be told my MOT cert. had expired 2 weeks ago. (diddn't I feel the bloody idiot) and No, I can't let you have a new tax disc!
Knowing it vertually impossible to get a short notice MOT as all decent garages booked up well in advance. Trawling the phonebook, found a small husband and wife run garage who said, no problem, bring Esprit down and leave for an hour. An hour later, MOT completed (and passed) parted with 39 pounds (thats cheap in anyones language) and couldn't have been happier with their attitude or the service I got.
It doesn't matter nowadays if you buy a television, lawnmower, car, computer or whatever. The customer care and aftersales service is astonishingly bad in most cases. So I found it very refreshing to find a happy, helpful, no hassle, great service company that will definately get visits from my other cars in future.
Bring on Sunday and a roof off Esprit!

I'm sure it will be a great car and all that. But to me, when someone says the word "supercar" it evokes pictures of Esprits, Lambos, Ferrari's etc etc ie cars of great beauty and works of art. I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the Melling looks almost plain and ordinary. Why do so many modern cars have that very rounded front end nowadays? I guess the Esprit being mid-engined can have the wedgy front end and the modern so called supercar has to have the bulbous front to fit the engine in - but come on - Performance and looks make a supercar!

Thanks Carl. Don't know where I was when you posted that thread - only six weeks ago. Usially read all.

Has anyone any pics of how they set up their video camera's for filming when driving. I have noticed the odd Esprit filming when "on track". The Camera is set somehow to the side of drivers shoulder in the central deep pocket for the best in car shots of wheel, speedo and obviously whats out of front window. Question - What/how is camera supported and are the results of OK quality i.e. not too much camera shake? Feedback please.

Certainly the dampest Castle Combe I've been to by far. Still a good day though. Nice to meet Mark Blanchard (send us some pics if you can Mark) also Scoule tracking his Excel S E. Well done to Alan Paterson, persisting in the rain, and looking forward to next DVD.

Paul, did you say 1000,000 (1 million) miles that you hope do do by next year? I had to do a double take when I saw those zeros. Its only 240000 miles to the moon - so for your S1, I make it, more than 2 return journeys to the moon. (240000 miles away) Crickey!!! Should be renamed Lotus Enterprize or something.

Bumped into and spoke to an Esprit owner (S2) in a Tesco's car park at the weekend. Recorded millage was 179000. He diddn't know much history of car as recent purchase. Probably the highest recorded millage running Esprit I have seen. Anybody know of any really high millage cars still being used? (That made me feel ok, thinking mines still good for another 100K!!)

Good decision. I don't know about anybody else, but I always think a tired worn out, neglected or bad condition Esprit is just crying out to be looked after properly. ( my motherly nature) Well done for sticking to your gut reaction. I know I would want mine to go to a lover of the marque, somebody who has lusted after one for 20 years like I did. You wouldn't want to see it in a couple of years time, abused, and then remember the effort you put in.

Earlier in year,I was toying with the idea of selling Esprit and buying a newer bike "or" selling bike and getting newer Esprit. Still Can't decide so sticking with both. 17 year old Esprit and 5 year old ZX6. If push came to shove it would be tough but bike would go. Big buzz out of both but you don't need to don leathers and armour for a quick Esprit ride.

After calling out of the window, Just called the wife in from the bottom of the garden and up two flights of stairs to see the pic of the badly injured Button. Great reaction from her though, Not impressed. Not sure if I'm getting any tea now!

As long as there are no penalties involved!
(I better not shout too loud though, as the Dutch are the only team in the world with a worse penalty record than England at the majors)
