  1. Been away. Mad to sell my GG car. Now I've bought this GT3 in a V8 body. Just need to get it going though.... We can fix it though.....
  2. Yeah shes gone. To a very good home though. Collector and Roger Moore James Bond maniac (like me). I'll be sending off them skis and supports to him this week. He's having the car totally resprayed (paint was already good though), seats refurbished. I've advised about Bordeaux colour carpets and Compomotives, if a perfectionist. It was the car I got most attached too, but I was there once before with a 2.8i Capri Special. Once you've done it once, you get used to it. Funny for a few days it was strange to see my garage empty. I'll have another one for sure later.
  3. Sold my Turbo Esprit yesterday. I have the ski supports and skis still though... Kind,of sad, and happy. Got a good price for it.
  4. Tile for an update. After much work on the car, some parts changed, interior refreshed, engine steam cleaned, few silly issues sorted, the car sold today, for a handsome sum. My car sold yesterday. I'm sitting here, Espritless. All I can say is that the owner of ex B18LEF, has a serious piece of kit. The flame spitting exhaust, dump valve, loud exhaust impressed the buyer.
  5. OK. Try this: https://plus.google.com/u/0/104766000786186691827/photos/edit#photos/104766000786186691827/albums/5821183841324037665
  6. Been away. Them photos from the original car look great. I used the model to design mine. I have to see my mate to see how he's getting on with the fibreglass versions. I have a 222MB file on my PC, with all the info, showing how I calculated the size, and converted some rough old skis I bought for 30€ to look like OLINS. I can put it up on WE TRANSFER for you guys to download. Send us a PM, and I'll get it ready. PS. I can confirm driving fast and cornering and they didn't fall off. However serious high drag effect obviously.
  7. Concerning BI8 LEF, I'm doing the same. One side almost done. Looks okay. Rubbing down the spray filler with wet & dry to get the smoothest of finishes. Takes ages as its cold in my garage. On my Turbo Esprit 1984 I haven't got the rubber seals on the frames. Not sure if they were fitted or just on the Stevens model and after. My window frames are completely rust free. Actually that's the point. The water seeps down under the seal and stays there. Then as these frames probably never had suitable rustproofing back in the day, they rust. Anyone who has the seals fitted should remove them, clean up treat, add primer, respray, then maybe add some waxoil (brush it in), then put back the seal. I bet people with clean frames, will find some rust under the seal starting to build. If you really want to go for it add some slicon sealent after Use a fine nozel. Get the stuff used for marine applications. Its available in black. Nothing else rusts obviously.....
  8. Lex, Have finally got round to seeing my fibreglass mate. I've given him my ski-mounts. Moisture has got into the wood, and the paint has cracked. Its not so bad. Anyway I've asked him to scan the mounts and look at making some in fibreglass. Not sure how much he will charge. I'll keep you posted. PS. Have you seen the £75,000 Esprit on e-bay. Looks like yours
  9. Confirmed they originate from a Rover Metro 100. Here a link, but no stock. http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-YUF10061LNF
  10. Yes but its not easy to add pictures on this forum, even if low resolution.
  11. How about these? Cut about 5mm off the back. Perfect replacements
  12. Been asked to look out for some electric window switches. Not the ones on the very later cars, looking for around 1989 year model. Can't find a cross ref. Some links suggest same used on an Austin Maestro. Apparently it's the same switch used on the left or right petrol flap opening control. I tried Toyota Celica just to see, but no luck. Any ideas?
  13. What about them rubber stoppers that fit on the bottom of a stool or a small table. The type that have round in section metal legs. These stoppers normally fit on the outside. I bought 2 packs. I'll take a photo tonight. I aligned the rear tail gate on the SE Turbo at the weekend. I found 12mm type fit very well on the M8 nuts. I also used 4 washers on the right side looking forward and 3washers on the left, to lower the catch mechanism. Had to use longer bolts to take up this space of thread. The tail gate shuts snug now.
  14. All sorted now, water pump in, with cam belt done, and air con belt. Car goes really well. In fact lethally fast !!! Really quick car, and noisy. Actually I'd like to tone down a bit the exhaust. Any ideas? Now general tidying, cleaning, and respray. Rusty window frames too, which I mentioned on another post. Soon some photos if its nice at the weekend. Still prefer mine for road holding though. More nimble in the corners.
  15. This is another job to be done on BiBs old SE turbo, that me and a mate have acquired. Why is it that the passenger side seems always the worst. I'm gonna do the smooth down with a grinder, then rust proof, then fill with one of the many liquid metal fillers, smooth down, then prime and repaint.
  16. Latest update..... Waterpump back together, with refurb kit from Lotus Bits. Was the cheapest I could find, after checking with various other well known Esprit parts specialists. Put is back on the car yesterday. Lots of swearing and cursing later with the help of Nigel mate of mine (bloke who done Durratech conversion), we got it on there. One under the car, one above the only way to do this job. Apparently doing the waterpump with the engine in the car is something to be proud of. Then cam belt, alternateur. Nearly there now.
  17. Bond cars yeah, okay, you would think that would mean real Bond cars come first then anything else 2nd. Not in this case. Why did Hammond give so much time on the Alpha and the cut in half Renault. Cars that were never approved in Qs lab. Just cars Bond pinched during his adventures. So this leads to the non showing of the Turbo Esprit. When Roger mentioned the 2CV, I thought yeah they are now bound to mention it. He had no choice, because the bady guy while trying to get into his Esprit, the thing exploded. But NOTHING... not a sausage. Not even the car with skis. Then when it switched onto the next James Bond, I knew it was over. Pity....
  18. Update. Water pump is being refurbished. All belts appeared to be lose. New cam belt and torquing up, then drip drip. Shaft on water pump worn. Soon back together again.
  19. B18 LEF is being sorted. Alternator being fixed, Aircon belt and new cam belt being done. Will have all the scratches and dents knocks etc from previous wars sorted. Speedo fixed already. Engine cover resprayed. Dump valve jubilee clip turned round 45', and hole filled on engine cover. What a bodge that was. Rear valence missing grilles repaired Twin exit exhausts on valence professionally prepared (valence modified). Has had lights modified, and now on French plates, from today. Available soon. Watch this space.
  20. I got a replacement dizzy cap from SJs, and red rotor arm from here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110458804727?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_4811wt_1108
  21. Hey I did mine couple of weeks ago. Easy job. Easier on a Spitfire though. Get the wheel off, up on a jack with axle stands, secure secure as ever. Squirt WD40 on all the bolts, leave for a bit, have a cupper. Better to leave over night. Undo the nuts. Best start on the upper ball joint nut. Then the other two, with rachet and spanner. Then you'll certainly need the ball joint splitter. Bit fiddly to get the thing in, and mind the brake pipe hose. Open the splitter. Bang !!! The thing will separate just as you thought it would never. Put back together. Use proper locking nylocks. Do as a pair always. Take her out for a run. Hey she corners even better. Mine were really very sad looking. I've kept them just to show people. Oh, and buy them advertised as Triumph, don't pay silly money for 'Lotus' branded parts. They are the same thing. I paid £14 postage inc from e-bay.
  22. Okay, I've changed the rotor arm on mine for one of them red ones on e-bay for around £5. Obvious usual 20 minute fiddling as ever to un-clip the dizzy, and then have to find the clips that always fall off, and in the case of my car fall down on the under panel. Nice job to unscrew, cursing Lotus as ever, and saying why did I ever bother, like you do. Nice place to put the dizzy cap. Bottom clip first, always remember that. Did that then went for a run. What a difference. Car seems much much smoother. I would definitely recommend buying one, even just as a spare.
  23. Hi, been away. Good news. It was just a fuse that needed changing. Very very lucky guy. Car is all sorted now I've been told.
  24. Trevor, Seen my mate tonight. Starter motor turns, He can smell fuel. He's had a quick check of relays and fuses, although not sure if he's really been thorough enough. He's saying it's the ECU that's gone. I must admit it can be easy just to say that. I've checked it wasn't a silly like forgot to link up the imobilizer key to the slot near where the key goes. Starter wouldn't turn anyway, and it does. I'll try and spend an afternoon when I have time and see with him. Just to know though, what are we talking for a replacement ECU? Would it need complete programming to suit GT3, and this very car, re imobilizer? Might be barking up the wrong tree, but could we just take out the ECU from either of the SE Turbos (Bibs old motor) or my mates, plonk in the GT3, and see? Don't want to see something else buggered up. Just a thought though.
  25. Hi thanks everyone. Will keep the ECU spares in mind, and yes it is a Silver GT3, in V8 body kit. With twin x2 tail pipes. 1998 car with latest dash cluster. Is the car familiar to anyone? I tried the download, to post images, but it failed. Cheers Okay done the photobucket way. See here the cars. SE Turbo, the ex-Bibs machine, and the sad not going GT3 in V8 kit. From what my mate saw as he is a professional body repair/sprayer, this GT3 was built with V8 body kit from day 1. http://s1144.photobucket.com/albums/o495/eddieboote/
