My understanding (so maybe incorrect) is that the car either came with the plate, or the hifi. As I bought mine new from Silverstone, it came with the HiFi only but I managed to get a "plate" by another method. It's a seriously chunky bit of metal!

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

My car has got an Alpine headunit rather than the Alloy 410 radio blank so a little homage to it I've added this little boot up screen.

I was going to refit the alloy radio blank but the headunit and reversing camera are so useful.

From what I have read they all came with radio blank then a dealer fitted the headunit if so desired by the customer and no doubt the dealer just kept hold of the blanks.

Mine started life with its blank and the dealer fitted the headunit around 2020 ish. What I also find interesting was the reverse camera and all the wiring was installed when the car was built.

@lotuslee281275 not sure that is correct as the radio, amp etc would have been specified on the factory order form and fitted at factory surely? If you have that as de facto I'll bow to your superior knowledge.

Do not see the value in it being done by the dealer. I certainly did not get offered the plate when I got my car brand new with the hifi, camera, amp all specified.

As for the wiring, the full harness was installed at the factory - it's just easier and cheaper for them to have a single harness with all the connections, and then just connect what is specified. Most manufacturers have done this for some time, which is why it is easy to fit "options", with many of them just needing to be "activated" by a dealer, for a fee of course.

@C8RKH you may be right, I do know that my car been the 1 of 3 original press cars got built then converted to 410 spec so the certificate of conformity says.

Maybe when they went into production the stereo was a option.

In Production yes, things like hifi, sub amp, mudguards, sound deadening, speakers etc were all options you could tick, as were "custom" colours. Good article here: https://www.thelotusforums.com/latest-news/lotus-cars-news/lightening-strikes-again-the-lotus-evora-sport-410/
