High continuous electric beep tone

So, had it investigated a bit more I think it is a noisy fuel pump. It appears that when you pull the fuse the voltage drops, thus the tone changes.. 

Any idea on cost of a new fuel pump and man hours?

If you pull the fuse, the pump should completely stop IMO and if it were the pump the noise should be completely gone, no?  If you hear a change in tone then this confirms that it is electrical in nature as an electrical consumer (the pump) is eliminated.  For such thingys I use a "car stethoscope"; you pick one up cheap on the Bay or Amazon.

So my dealer told me if you pull the Ign fuse the voltage drops from say 14volts to 12volts so the pump would still work but with lower voltage and thus changing pitch. 

However I do hope it is not the pump as it is not realistic and easy to change out... I'll try and find the stethoscope! 

Any more suggestions (anyone)?

I bought the stethoscope on Aliexpress so let's see if we can play doctor on the car

My Elise has something very similar sounding, my bet is on the fuel pump, the sound started with the ignition switched on and the pump priming and remained audible even with engine running.

Hi PJ. Nice to meet you and Im from Hong Kong. I am driving a exige s 2013.

Recently I have exact the same issue as yours. When engine starts, the high pitched beep will start too. Its definitely from behind the seat, and loudest in the middle. Its 100% not from the speaker. The sound is continuous and when I drive the car, the sound seems disappear but in fact still there just it was covered by the engine noise.

Have you sort out the issue at the end? I am very keen to know how and what causes that. 

I have read a lot of forums about high pitched noise and this one is the most similar to mine. I hope I could hear your reply soon.

Others, if you guys have any suggestion please feel free to share.

Hi Benson, doesn't bother me anymore really that much. You come to learn to accept things like this which come with a Lotus 😂.. I also think it is the fuel pump, it isn't easily accessible so I left it and invested in a louder exhaust system 🤣

Hi PJ. I took it to mechanic yesterday. They also think it comes from the fuel pump, as the loudest spot is where the fuel pump located behind. 

Yes louder exhaust will do, actually put the car to race mode also helps. However, that high frequency does bother me when stop at traffic light or driving at rpm. Its not loud at all, but its really quite annoying. 

My mechanic told me it is not too difficult to reach the fuel pump. Just need to take out the passenger seat and open the back. He may change the filter for me and have it cover with sound isolate cotton. That should do.

Noticed the same today, having not driven mine for 3 months. Hadn't actually seen this post, so seems a few of us are in the same boat now. Benson, did changing the pump work?

Last night I noticed if you hold the window button up for a second (when closed) the noise changes to a deeper tone and quieter. Also if you can get your ear right up to the heater controls they make a noise I wonder is it this? The sound could travel along the floor to the back. I may try to change the relay under the dash back to the original without the "tick tock" as I changed this when I changed the rear lights to GRP ones...
