2017+ Instrument Cluster Question

I recently installed a new cluster in my 2008 Federal Elise and the only available part was A147N0002F which is the 2017.5 and up version.  Everything works as intended except the odometer.  The space reserved for the odometer at the bottom right of the LCD display cycles through between the odometer, tripometer and KPH speedometer with the button on the steering column.  The only issue is, when I change it from one thing to another, it always reverts back to the kph speedo when I restart the car.  My previous cluster defaulted to the odometer, which I would prefer.  Since we never got this cluster in the US, I wanted to check and see if the kph default is how this cluster is designed to work, or whether mine is defective.  And if it is designed this way, is there any way to change the default to the odometer?

Yep it always does at least my 2018 Exige 350 did, always prefer the trip there it always went back to KPH each time - I presume it was we can drive to EU from UK we would have both speed readouts without worrying and you just inherited this when the dash was made simpler  (FYI normally our speedos show MPH in big numbers and KPH in small numbers for this reason)

That behaviour is the same on my 2019 Elise.  Am not aware of any way to change the default..

Yep, it’s by design so they could have a simpler clock face

In Europe I found it well nigh impossible to read KPH at speed. Tiny red digits on black background
