Lotus Carlton

I saw a dark green (I think..)  Lotus Carlton in Surrey on Sunday. 

Darn rare but immediately recognisable by those who grew up when they were announced. Looking old but what a car!

 

One for sale on Autotrader right now too.  Umm.

Yes it would have been dark green. All 950 of the RHD & LHD production cars were originally painted imperial green metallic. One was promptly repainted silver, because the (Lucas boss) owner’s wife didn’t like it. What a wuss!

I have only ever seen two in the flesh.

At the time it caused a proper furore.

I remember some elements of the press thinking it was anti-social and against good taste to make  a saloon car that powerful.

Ha. Have to laugh.😄  Times have moved on and it looks a bit 'tame' in today's world but these super cars have of course gone totally mad and ridiculous for the road. Hey ho.
