Dash leather replacement

Recommended Posts

Just back from paying a quick visit to my local lotus dealership who kindly checked some recent issues

i asked about my dreadful dash condition, the centre leather is splitting and other areas are coming away from around the binnacle areas exposing staples.

Central Lotus said they can when car Is in for service they remove the dash and get their interior specialist to recover. Cost approx £250-350 ?

question do I recover in similar leather or do something else ? I don’t want to repeat the leather contracting again ?

suggestions ?

Wow that’s a great price. Definitely go for a better quality leather that looks OEM sure the interior specialist can advise you.

Great price.

Also, to prevent reoccurrence, what about covering the dash with a simple custom-cut sunshade?

I have two - one for the windscreen and one for the dash.   The latter is a cheap Halfords £10 one which I’ve cut so it simply lays over the whole dash - it covers the centre stitching bit too as you can tuck it into the gap between the windscreen and the dash.  It’s small, light and ideal for just putting on the dash if you’re not parked up for longer periods (in which case I’d fit the windscreen one instead) 👍🏻

I have a sunshade but the damage was done in the previous time before my ownership 🙁

when car goes into central lotus will discuss the options hopefully there’s a type of leather or Alcantara covering which won’t suffer in sun however I will ensure I coat or treat the dash even in the winter
