Eclat panel light rheostat

Recommended Posts

After years of non use, the panel light rheostat seems to have siezed in my 79 Eclat. Thinking of taking the knob off and spraying something (wd40?) down the shaft? Does the knob just pull off? Any locking screw? If the rheostat doesn't free, how do I get it out? In through the side panel?

Thanks

If you look around the outside of the knob you will find a small hole.  Push a 3mm rod of some kind into the hole and pull on the knob at the same time - there is a spring-loaded button holds the knob on.  You will then see the locking ring that keeps the switch in place on the panel.  You need to remove the whole panel to get to the rheostat.

Nice one Pete, much appreciated. My eyes are not what they were when I bought the car 36 years ago 😉
