EXCEL V8's post in sump fitting alignment question was marked as the answer
Just checked my old mbp/sump - sump drops straight on without the slightest restriction and sits flat against the mbp.

EXCEL V8's post in Mounting hydraulic PAS pump on X180 car? was marked as the answer
Hi John
This is what the cast version of the power steering pump bracket looks like (Hobourn pump):
The previous version (same pump) was a fabricated part.
This is what it looks like on a 912 engine destined for an Excel:
The pump and its adjusting bracket fix via the M10 tapped holes on the front of the casting. Notice that you have to have to correct water pump casting with the lower "pedestal" for the power steering pump casting to bolt to. Sorry - I don't have a pump to photograph in-situ.
The older, fabricated bracket, still fastened to the main bearing panel/sump but mounted onto the lower fixing bolts of the water pump itself at the front.
Hope this helps.

I've got the later type (as Chris shows above) that I don't intend to use, if you're interested.

EXCEL V8's post in Diff Removal Questions was marked as the answer
I don't think that would give you enough room Mike. If I were in your position I would make a wooden platform to support the diff at some strategic points and put it onto scissor-action floor transmission jack. You could then do all the work yourself at the pace that suits you, safely. I know it would mean buying the jack but this might not be the only time you have to remove the diff!!
There are a couple of different brake pipe layouts but you will certainly have to remove the flexi-to-chassis hoses connections.

EXCEL V8's post in Crankshaft Front Oil Seal issues (third time...) was marked as the answer
Sounds like the seal may not be centralised on the crank - you have to fit it into the housing and then fit the housing to the engine so the seal is centralised on the crank.

EXCEL V8's post in Headlights switching off was marked as the answer
There is a "thermal interrupter" in the headlight circuit - maybe it's still operational. It seems like a piece of kit designed to kill you on a dark rainy night!! I'm rewiring mine and using the light switch to activate relays so the switch will only carry about 0.5A.

EXCEL V8's post in Rear bearing - dimensions was marked as the answer
o/d = 2.5" i/d = 1 5/16" Width = 2.0" for inner races. They are indeed Maxi front wheel bearings.
