Gents ,

When changing up through the gears i seem to get a judder then surge of power that is new and not right . Thinking it could be spark plugs , but don't want to order if you thinks it is unlikely ?

From the very limited symptoms that you have described, that sounds more like a slipping clutch to me.  Spark plug issues would cause misfires.
