V8 4 Pot or 6 Pot Brakes ?

Just a quickie for those that know .... (and have tried)

V8 4 pot or 6 pot front brake caliper kit, as an upgrade for your Esprit ?

Would you buy a 4 pot or 6 pot front brake caliper kit ?

6 pot has it on looks (imho) but does it on feel/stops ?

(Mine is fitted with an oldish Hi-spec 4 pot kit but am thinking should I just buy a more modern? 6 pot kit)

I went with 6 piston because they look sexy. My Esprit had the Brembo brakes.

You wont stop any shorter going from 4 to 6. Brake fade on track events would really be the reason to upgrade, and there are other things you can do first. Brake air ducting, dot 5.1 or racing brake fluid

Hi Wyn,

Your front brake are Monster 6 Hi-Spec calipers not 4 pot see invoice below which you also have. It also has 323mm diameter front drilled discs and bells and 320mm rear drilled discs and bells.

Regards,

David

Cheers Dave, I should have checked but yes you did add in your message before to say 6 pot.

That's a bonus then. Will just look at the discs

Can't see me wanting to down grade lol

On more than one vehicle, I've noticed that brakes, old or new, fewer or less pistons, and small discs or bigger, all benefit from running carbon ceramic brake pads. Maybe try those. They do take a while to break in.

Kind regards,

Jacques

Nobody does it better - than Lotus ;)

Cheers as it goes I've already ordered some new pads. Will see how it goes with those.

Will give them miles before giving them large for sure !
