Insurance issues?

Recommended Posts

Picked up my car in July and to switch to my Eletre R from my Tesla gave me cashback for the last few weeks of the period. I came to renewal now and no one wants to insure me this time?? Only quote I can get is £8k! I was getting prices closer to £1200 before.

JLR did this for the Range Rovers that no one else wanted to cover, but it was very expensive.

Insurance is all over the place right now. My Merc DD was £380 last year. Renewal was £690. Fook that - shopped around and got it for £360. It's just crazy right now and know of lots of people getting outrageous quotes. Must be Brexit, or the Reeves effect.

God doesn't want me, and the Devil isn't finished with me yet.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!

I'm sure, but it was just an example of the chaos out there.

Mine is £2750 this year.... Up £1,000 from what was anticipated.  I believe small volumes and high numbers (relatively) of expensive claims must be root cause.

Just picked out a Eltre R reg plate from one for sale on Autotrader and ran a compare the market quote

Comprehensive, SDP and business use.

5k miles personal, 5k miles business.

5 years NCB and no accidents, convictions, points in last 5 years.

Cheapest quote I got was £1036 with a further 4 quotes under £1100.

Does not seem to bad to me for a £115k car.

Problem seems to be my name. 1 character change in surname and similar prices.

Worth a phone call to one or two or the companies, that doesn't really make sense.

I noticed a big incrrease in the cost of insurance last year across cars in our family and also pet and house insurance! It is the cost of parts andlabour rates that have increased since Covid, as well as the number of claims. This was also a compelling reason to switch to the company's salary sacrifice scheme for EV's (through Octopus) as it includes insurance, tires, servicing, etc.
