hello everyone. i had a new roof cath arrive, fitted no problem (very straightforward) went to open sunroof today & snap, right arm on catch snapped well fu*ed off have taken pic (attached) and sent to lotus surpluss stock, i believe thay should replace it.

Agee. it is not like this thing can be over torqued at installation or something. I'd bet upon close inspection you'd find a flaw within the body of the arm. Air bubble, stressed fracture point from manufacture... something.

Hope they get it right for you. These type of things can really get a person up in a bad way!

I'm sure Lotus will be more than happy to replace it if it's defective! Have you called them yet or did you post on here first?

hello everyone i have sent them an email with the same picture on asking them if they want the part returning and if they have a replacement in stock, no reply as yet. bugger as i was going to be doing some touching up on the car on friday so i would have needed to take the roof off but may have to leave as i dont want to remove it and have the other arm snap.

i dont expect a reply today as its getting on in the afternoon, its strange though that you get a very very quick reply when you enquire about a part for a possible order.

I too think you should wait for a reply before posting problems with Lotus cars,

Lotus specialists and garages. It's only fair to give them a chance to sort it out

before telling the world.

If i wrote my mechanic a cheque that bounced, i'd be mortified if he posted it up

on here along with an announcement he's left a message on my answerphone a

few hours earlier.

I've re-read Peters post and I don't think he's being critical of Lotus. He simply says that the part has broken and he expects Lotus to replace it...............and I'm sure they will.

hello.

i have recieved my new roof catch & fitted it.i have tried to use the sunroof today, the right arm has sheared straight off as can be seen in the picture below, would you like me to send you this part back as there is an obvious fault with it or the materials used in its construction? and do you have a replacement in stock as im sure stocks on these parts will be getting quite low.
