7th June AEG meeting to aid Charity

OK, as discussed at the last AEG meeting we have been asked to show our cars at the Hethersett FC Community Charity fundraising day. The money raised goes to the Football teams, School and local charities so it's all in a great cause. We thought replacing the June meet would be appropriate and NON AEG MEMBERS ARE MORE THAN WELCOME to come and have a chat over a beer, have a nice hoon and show off their cars.

The format is that the doors will open at 12.00 Our cars will be shown at the forefront of the event to both draw people in and so we can discuss them with everyone. Letting kids sit in the cars is purely optional and one or more of us should be keeping an eye on them at all times.

Other events include 12 footy matches, beer tent, food, kiddies attractions, etc. I do believe our own Nick Fulcher was a sponsor last year and hope he can come along. I will also be asking Glenn at Lotus Sport to put a couple of cars down there and provide us with some Promo leaflets for the Diamond anniversary.

Lets face it, we all love to show our cars off, talk to each other and have a good time whilst helping raise thousands for charity so lets get 100% behind this with as many cars as we can and have a lovely time too. Lets not forget that hundreds of local residents in Hethersett work at the factory, so they will love it too and having people chatting about us at the factory is always good!!

I'll start the List.

Kimbers.

I should be able to get one car there but if they are both running and I can get a second driver I don't suppose you'd mind if I bring the Esprit and the 7 would you.

I could also get a few more 7s along if you wish ... at least two of my L7C mates are current Lotus employees.

Nifty that would be very cool. So Esprits and 7's. Great! I got MJK's commitment at the weekend for both himself and some Factory cars so all of you who still haven't replied come on!

Owen! Surely you fancy a jaunt over to Hethersett to show your car off! All you Essex and Cambs AEG members would have a lovely hoon and with a start time of 12 (11 to set up and have a chat/coffee for us) you don't have to be up early!

So to reiterate: AEG, Lotus, MJK, Lotus 7's, Football (for those interested) Beer tent (for those not) bring the kids cause there's lots to do for them....what more could you want?

Great stuff! Geoff you're always welcome. the organisers even suggested, if there are enough of us, that we do a couple of laps around the Village to pull people in just before they open! (Sounds great!!).

Easy to find guys. Turn into Hethersett off the old Norwich Road. Turn onto the Great Melton Road at the Queens head (Right from Norwich, left from Wymondham) and it's the first School on your right!

Hi lads, I should be back from Northern Cyprus on the 3rd June so I should be there and if any one wants to visit my humble workshop on the day they will be most welcome and we have plenty of tea and coffee to sober you all up FREE OF CHARGE Magic words.

Nick Fulcher

Hi lads , Please ignore last post, I have just checked my home diary and I am fishing all that day in a big charity match, so I will not be able to make it (F**k it)

So the least I can do is buy you ALL a pint at the next Norfolk meet. I hope you all have a cracking day and our workshops are always open if any one is ever passing so please pop in for a cuppa and a chat if any one has the time in the busy lives that we all lead.

Come on please guys can we have some commited names up here. We all agreed that charity is a good idea and this will be a really enjoyable day, grub, showing off cars, lots of chat with each other and the public and it will get us some great press. We already have a page in the Event brochure saying what we do and who we are and if for nothing else, Lotus will be attending and we would like to show them how good AEG are.

Kimbers,

I'll definitely try to get 1 car there and will make enquiries of someone to drive the other over the weekend.

How many 7s are you prepared to accept?

Nifty.

Kimbers....I guess you have seen it at lotussport? Is it that unlikely to be finished by the 7th!!? I have been at sea for 14 days now so I haven't seen it for a while.....now I am worried (but not as worried as my bank manager.....should be!)

Sorry Kimbers cant make this one, clashes with the inlaws wedding anniversary. As it is a big one, 45 I think, I had better go. Besides I am usually pretty good at getting into trouble without trying so missing the anniversary would really be going for it!

It's going to be touch and go - just spoke to Rowland who says my car may be ready for Friday! There was a problem with the powder coating on the plenim cover.

Fingers crossed....

OK the venue have said we can be there for 11.30 to set up and the gates open at 12.

Burgers and soft drinks should be free to all AEG members displaying their cars.

My brother, father and myself would appreciate anymore people who can attend. As stated the factory are there and we don't want to look rubbish. Frankly, with the number of attendee's at an AEG meeting we shouldn't struggle to get 5 cars.

Marvin, someone may be incorrect as I spoke to the guy working on it and the boss at Sport, Glenn, and he said it would be ready by Tuesday no problems. I would suggest calling Rowland and saying the car is being shown at an event Saturday and has to be ready and Glenn told you it would be ready no problem. If you leave it it may keep getting bumped back.

What! I just got off the phone to Rowland who tells me that the car is all done but that the coating contractor who were doing the plenum cover cocked it up and it won't be back at LotusSport until Wednesday.....then MOT on Thursday and pick up Thursday PM/Friday am. I think he is telling the truth - very apologetic.....hmmm, now I am suspicious. Hope it's genuine as they have had the car for about 7 weeks now!

.....Any influence that you or your father can exert to have my car ready and looking good before the event would be well appreciated by the way. Would be a shame to miss out.

Chris,

Please see PM.

Thanks Owen, that makes 5 with the Yellow Peril, and I also have confirmed an Elise and a 2-11 on the way thanks to the boys and girls at the factory. John Lamb will be attending, from the factory and we will have lots of flyers for the Diamond anniversary to hand out.

Should be a cracking time and great to see us all raising awareness within the community and helping raise money.

Hi,

Would be good as well if there was some Lotus freebies as well, stickers, brochures to give away, can that be sorted?. If kids are the same as when I was young, then they will want to collect brochures, I had stacks of them, used to go round all the local garages collecting them, but I no longer have them, wish I did. :crybaby:

Owen.

Me too. They go for a fortune on E-bay now!! I have kept the ones I had with my father in them, but am sadly lacking quite a few.
