Interesting topic here...

I am afraid I (like many others) also experienced unwanted problems from official dealers and specialists. No replies or returned messages. But not just with my Lotus but also Maserati dealers.... I have been let down pretty badly, probably twice more!

Again there are not enough experienced people around, no one to blame here. So I (also like many others) do as much of the work as possible myself, on both cars. However work like brake pipes, bleeding etc I usually leave to the experts, even if meant traveling over 5 hours and staying overnight. We just got back from Liverpool for 2 days where I had Pete (PNM Engineering) install a new front brake gear and braided clutch pipe.

Busy chap he is. Too busy in my view and many thanks goes to David Walter for looking after my wife and I. Really enjoyed looking around Walleysey and Liverpool too.

Thats nothing new. I buy 2500 cars a year for my company and some dealers don't call me back either!

looks like I opened a can of worms! However I am very happy with how reasonable and pragmatic most of the responses are here.

I did not want to name and shame the chap here as we all have off days. That said one other poster has expressed the same issues!

I would love to hear about the horror stories some of the independents have when it comes to unreasonable customers. It is probably those people that make our independents so jaded when it comes to offering good service to us.

There's at least one story on this thread where in my opinion (and I stress it's only an opinion and I don't have all the facts) where a post of crap service was placed here on LEF over a weekend, before the specialist involved could have had any chance of receiving the complaint and resolving it.

Yeah i heard one side of a story of a post of crap service was placed here over a weekend and then when the 'specialist' ivolved replied they blamed the other specialist - despite having the car 'after' the 'specialist' they were blaming had finished with it and they 'serviced' it...

Hmmm??
