S4s running at high RPM without control, during gearshift.

Gentlemen

During this spring I have twice had experienced the car running wild at max RPM.

It happens after 1-2 hour driving at "normal" RMP and speed. Then when I accelerate on first gear to 6000-7000 RPM and going to second, then the car is out of control at max RPM (7500, 6000, 7000, 5500, 8000 ...) during gearshift and I have to turn off the ignition ( just like rebooting Windows:-))

It's a S4s 1995 model.

After "rebooting" the car it acts like normal.

I don't think it's the cables, because it should happens more often. But It could been the carpet on the floor.

An Esprit running at max RPM (in traffic) without control is not pleasant experience.

Any suggestions?

It is more likely the throttle cable or throttles sticking open then anything else; the engine would not get enough air from anywhere else to manage such high rpms. Was the throttle pedal flopping around without any spring resistance when this happened?
