Spring rate

I'm refreshing my shocks/springs - and the vendor is 'recommending' a spring rate of 375lbs / 275lbs. Does anyone have experience with different spring rates / options?

I'm running F: 275 R: 250

Here's what various models use. I made my decision based on this chart. No regrets!

  • 98 V8 GT: F211(37) R245(43)
  • Sport 300: F313(55) R342(60)
  • V8: F260(45) R250(44)
  • Sport 350: F350(61) R314(55)
  • SE: F171(30) R154(27)
  • Final V8: F327(57) R316(55)
  • X180R: F 363 ft lbs R337 ft lbs
  • Bundy X180R: F382 ft lbs R365 ft lbs

375 front seems way, way too hard.

Mine are 10 inches, BTW. ;)

Interesting, didn't think there were so many different springs !

May I ask where you got these figures from ?

I am particularly intrigued to see that all models have similar spring rates exxcept for one single model, the SE, which appears to have springs twice softer that all others, especially the non-SE turbo it is dervied from, depiste it being obviously less sporty.

It doesn't make sense to me ! If it does I would like to hear the technical explanation so I can learn something new today ! Anyone knows ? Or is it just a typo ?

The list was posted on the turboesprit list years ago. I can't recall if a source was provided.

Eibach. Form their "race" catalog. Ride quality is suburb. It's been lowered significantly. I'm also running slightly higher sidewalls in the front -- 245 vs. 240.

I'm thinking your rear springs are 3" ID, as you would otherwise need an adapter to mate with the upper chassis perch. I had some adapters made to accommodate 2.5" springs on my SE, if anyone needs a set let me know.

FWIW, I'm running 300 lbs. front, 250 lbs. rear.
