HID Xenon headlight conversion

Recommended Posts

I have seen lots of kits to convert to HID. Has anyone made a kit for, or pieced together the parts to do an Esprit? And, how is the high beam handled, is that also HID?

I'd be curious to find out if there was a way to remove the pop-ups and replace with a clear glass panel covering some fixed HIDs, similar to what Lambo did with the late model Diablo. I don't know if the headlights would be too low to be legal in this configuration.

I fitted the Dip Beam set to my S4 from the elise shop in holland.

This was a group buy about 18 months ago and I think they were in the order of 250

We've just done a test on higher wattage bulbs for the Esprit. Both H1 and H4 bulbs. We're still waiting for prices for the kits. But you can get a sneak preview of the review here:

Remember, it's not finished yet!

its the simplist of conversions--no kit needed

details of the procedure, prices and part #'s of

what i did are on my website (click "redrocket" below)

but do a google search for 5 3/4" H4 headlights

and you'll find tons of options.

H1 bulbs suck

got them in my truck and have to replace them

every 2 months no matter how carefully

i handle them

i think i much prefer mine, but here are some others:

Just fitted HIDs to the inner (high beam only) headlights.

Oh My Goodness.

It's a bit brighter with those.

I already have new headlights care of Lotusperformance. Those were a major change when compared to the effectiveness of the aged original ones.

But now with HIDs in them it's amazing.

Admitedly some of the percieved improvement is the blue tint, I've got 8000k which is only slightly blue, almost daylight when compared to the natural yellow tint of Halogen lamps.

But it's very different, and even better takes less power, so not going to put as much strain on the wiring, where as people opting for higher power (illegal in Europe incl UK) lamps would either have to add in extra wiring or risk burning the original cabling.

I'm now wondering about the dip&main combined lamps, possibly going to HIDs on those, at circa

Full HID kit with ballasts.

I've mounted the ballasts in the front storage compartment on the body near the headlight motors, one problem was the length of the power cabling supplied, for the RHS the connector is in the headlight void and is easily long enough. For the LHS the coupling had to be in the headlight pod, and only just reaches.

I aught to have projector headlights for these, but haven't found any yet.
