Erm, Say what now?

I read all that and now have to go lie down to stop my head spinning.

It took an hour to upload all the files needed, remembering which ones should be in ASCII and which ones Binary! It's a very nervous time, not helped that the upgrade files were the wrong CHMOD so it all went tits up at first!

I'm going to spend time over the next few days sorting everything out so it all works and getting the garage back up to speed. Won't be too long

Two non-urgent questions....

Where has the "mark all posts as read" button moved to?

Will this finally enable us to move back to the home page directly from a post, without having to navigate our way back step by step (so it remembers which threads are read etc)

Oh... and I'm sure you know this already but at the moment, the 'mark up' helpers, above the reply text box, that insert quotes etc are all red X'es!!

Try it and see, cookies are now stored on the server so this should work.

Have tried what you suggested Bibs (also cleared out all temp. internet files) but 'fraid am still getting a row of red x's - on both work and home pcs.

The mark all posts thing has deffo disappeared - not from the bottom right of the main front page but from the individual rooms

eg. In General Chat, there used to be a "mark all posts read" at the top right... I cannot find one at all now!

I don't know if you've noticed already but your "ticker" has gone from the "please wait while youre transferred, click here if you do not wish to wait" page thing...

I must admit I never entirely understood what that page was abouit in the first place...

"Yeah sure, I love to wait - please hold me on this page longer!"

What does guided mode do?

Guided mode 'helps' or guides you.

The little ticker thing is just a gif added into the template of that page and the reason that page is there is to give the forum a change to add your post to the table then retrieve the new table, that's the way mySQL works innit.

Minor point:

The bar at the top that's now white, contains (almost invisible) white text "Forum Options" - I think the bar is supposed to be solid black?

YAY! We dont have to navigate our way back out any more and jumping back to the main page, it WILL now remember which threads we have read

This forum 'skin' or appearance isn't IPB 2.1 Compliant so I have to pick, install and customise another.

What do we all think of this one?

No idea what a post thingy is, and are you saying that the fact it's changed is a good or bad thing?

Go to my controls, you can adjust the time in there but the server time is correct.

And no, as I said this skin isn't compatible. I will edit the new skin to get it looking as close to this one as possible and more features such as in line editing etc will be online

I can remember the penguin chip shop

(on the Estate) doing fish and chips for

55p (and i'm only 34). I used to be able

to buy 20 fags and still have change from

a tenner for a game of pool and 4 pints.

I used to get up an hour before school

to work in the local shop for a pound an

hour stacking veg and sticking price labels

on stuff, and three hours on a saturday, and

i was happy with my tenner (even though

mum took two-fifty housekeeping).

And 'Topics' used to be as big as 'Mars' bars

back then (which were bigger themselves).

Walkers crisps were 10p a pack and were

in clear plastic bags, 'Crunchie' bars came

in paper wrappers, and creme eggs had

blue red and green foil (now just blue and red).

My grandmother had a knackered old girls doll,

when you tilted it forward one eye opened and

it made a deathly groan (would have been a

baby noise when new). The thing was all scratched

about it's face and had only a few strands of hair,

i used to cry my little heart out whenever they

produced the thing (i was terrified, still scares me

now the thought of it), regardless, whenever there

were visitors i always heard whispered 'get the doll',

so my tearful terror could be used for amusement.

I did not steal Martin mcnamara's pen, gautam stole

it and planted in my blazer, no-one believed me and

i got a beating in games. Next week Gautam broke

martins pen, i got the blame, and more beatings, and

for months if something went missing it was like 'ok

So many things have changed, some for the better

The new skin is installed and most of the changes are done.

With the new post form you have more options and rich text editing, it's the future.

I'd say this skin is pretty much on the ball

Maybe re-introduce the text colour to the main page - I can find the values again later if you like?

There are a couple of little things that will need tweaks (those tiny little E's that are on a black background, although now it's a grey fade (etc))

The forum options drop-down works now - and lo and behold - there is the "Mark all posts read" option that was missing form the page

Errrrm... The "Quotes" background is a tad on the dark side!

This Rich Text Editor's a tad powerful!

Not only will it show images you post in line as you type

But it lets you mess with them too!

Very impressive!
