UN1-013 FLIP CROWN WHEEL

Hi - Sorry if this has been covered before, i have tried to search this topic but no answers have come back.

I have a UN1-013 which has had the Derek Bell upgrade, im looking for advice on how to flip the crown wheel over to the other side so i can use it for rear engine.

I have split the box but then when i lay the crown wheel on the other side it doesnt marry up with the pinion teeth

you will have to change the shims in order to get the correct alignment of the crownwheel to the pinion...

 

The castellated pre-load adjustment will also be in the wrong direction, so you will have to set the preload with shims.

 

The shims go under the bearings, against the differential.

I am happy with the shim setting etc its trial and error but its the actual flippin im lost with the crown wheel pops out fine and goes in the other side ok but it dosnt line up with the pinion

I don't know what you mean by "doesn't line up".  Do you mean the teeth don't engage each other, as in spaced too far apart?  Or do you mean vertically?  The UN1 is not hypoid, so the pinion center-line is the same as the crown wheel. 

Are you sure you don't have a UN5, because that transaxle is Hypoid, and wouldn't be flippable.
