Hi

Im the new owner of a S4s, the car is running great, temp gauge normal but i have not heard the fans working even when the engine has been switched off and there seems to be a little gurgling has the engine is switched off

I have looked at the Lotus technical manual which mentions up to 20 min fan operation after switch of on the V8 models

Should the fans come on on my 4 cylinder S4s ? Not sure if I have a problem or not any advise appreciated

Welcome to TLF Keith. :welcome:

You should duck over to the Introductions section and say hi in there as well.

I know that my S4 fans do not come on when I stop my car. If you wish to test whether your fans work, there are two simple ways. If you turn the aircon on, the fans should switch in quite soon after. If you start the car up and just let it idle standing still, hopefully the car will get warm enough for the fans to cut in once the temp reaches about 95 degrees (I think).

However, if your temp is staying in range and everything is fine, don't worry and just drive. :driving:

All we know is that when they stop making this, we will be properly, properly sad.Jeremy Clarkson on the Esprit.

Hi, as Rich has said the fans do not run with the ignition turned off. Just start the car & leave her idling & they should come on with gauge reading about 90 although the dash gauge reading can be out so Freescan or Espritmon programs are useful to double check as this displays the engine temp reading, or as Michael has said with the engine running turn on the aircon & they should start up quite quickly. You'll definitely be able to hear then when they start up.

Phil.
