Fuel breather hose.

Hi,

Just a quick question. I replaced the breather pipe from tank to tank a while ago but tonight I decided to replace the short pipe that goes from the filler pipe to the purge valve, got it all done but when tidying away I've noticed the old pipe had a metal restrictor in it, is this needed & what's it for ?

It is needed as it restricts the rate of fuel vapour flow to limit over saturation of the charcoal canister.
