Just wondering if the option was available at the time if anyone would have liked the paddle shift option fitted to their LF1 that was recently announced for the V6's?

I would have certainly have liked a test drive to see how it felt as I have always liked the idea of flappy paddles and I've always wanted a start button also, sad I know, but as of yet have never had a car with one fitted.

No luck with having a start button fitted unfortunately as there is no wiring for it and the hole where it normally goes has the DPM switch fitted on the Exige S V6, worth asking though.

IMO start buttons are stupid anyway unless the car is 100% key less (i.e. you don't even need it to unlock the car), much prefer the normal key process than the process with the start button on the Elise:

Elise:

1. Insert key

2. Rotate to ignition position

3. Press immobiliser button

3. Locate start button

4. Press start button

Exige:

1. Insert key

2. Rotate to ignition position

3. Press immobiliser button

4. Continue Turning key

In both cases #3 unnecessary if you've just unlocked the car and the immobiliser has not kicked in so with the Exige it is just one fluid motion.

May only be one step less, but your hand is only ever on the key. Of all the cars I've had with start buttons, the only one that was any good was the Land Rover because it was absolutely key less, you never take it out of your pocket, not even to get into the car.

Also with the Exige you can leave it permanently in sport, don't have to press the button every time - but different point.

You are probably right, it is just one of those things that I have always hankered after but actually living with it probably makes it more hassle than it is worth, I definitely want to try the flappy paddle Exige though once available for demo.

There is a small possibility that my LF1 could be ready next week, just going through finishing at Lotus at the moment :)

Can't see me doing any track days this year to be honest as we are in the busy season now for HiFi so getting time out won't be easy + I'll need to get it run in, looking forward to next year though.

I had a start button on my RGB - now, you know around about where it is, but in the dark it did not light up (nor did the buttons for the lights) so was just a PITA IMO (cue:  stabling your finger around the dash until you found it!)

Have a great day guys, beautiful day for it :)

My LF1 has now landed at Lotus Silverstone, just the tracker and toe eye to fit then detailing and armourfend then I can bring it home, so aiming for late next week, just enough time to finish the garage I've had to build to be the Elan in :)

I was at the factory this week and saw mine (partially built). There must hast have been about 20 LF1s in there at various stages in build. It will be a few weeks before mind arrives but I'm very excited now I've seen it.

Great that you managed to meet Sir Stirling David , must have been a super day out .

I have just realised why people kept waving at me in my LF1 a couple of weeks ago in Peebles, we were staying at Cringletie House Hotel. It was as if the people waving knew thecar, I see that you live in Dolphinton which is only a few miles away.
