Oil Pickup Strainer

Hi Guys

I dropped my sump to do the big end shells yesterday and the oil pump strainer has come away from the pickup (I'm guessing I did it getting the sump off). It looks like it's only epoxied on from factory? Has anyone else had this? Is there a way to refit in a better way? I was thinking drill some holes through the top of the strainer and pickup and fix with self tappers. Not sure what the likelihood of them working loose is though?

Hmmm, i was hoping to find a solution that could be done in situ. I certainly can't recreate your solution although that looks ideal.

Mine looks like yours did. Would using screws be a complete no no?

I think screws could work, would want to use something to keep them from loosening.  Like maybe some with a deformed thread that can't come undone.  Or safety wire.

Been speaking to my (mechanical engineer) brother. Ordered some M3 button cap heads. Gonna try go through the entire unit (outside of the gauze) and use 2 nuts to prevent any coming loose. Will post pics etc when I'm able to have a crack at it.
