Meet The Solu - Computers reinvented (apparantly)

Just read this and still not sure why it's described as a reinvented computer or how you use it. But interesting enough for you techies to explain it to us old farts who think the fact they downloaded their first App on their I-phone, they have had for a year, makes them an expert.

Oh and you can buy into it as it's going to be crowdfunded!!

Usual marketing bull shit.

It has a Central Processing Unit (CPU), it has an Operating System or OS (modified Android) and it still processes through the use of programs to manipulate calculations, data and pictures (bits and bytes) in the same way as any other computer. In essence, it is no different to the first computers of the 1950's, to the first PC's of the late 1970's and to the current computers, gaming machines, smart phones, tablets etc. They all work essentially in the same way. Just miniaturisation has made them smaller and progress (thinner silicon, better voltage stability and control, etc.) has made them faster which has all then resulted in the cost per MIP (millions of instructions processed) reducing over time - this is all covered by something called Moore's Law.

What is different is the HMI (Human to Machine Interface) which is new and innovative (the thing that differentiates the look and feel of the user experience - so what makes Windows different from iOS, from Android, or any other OS) and the way data is stored (on the cloud - a sort of hard disc in the internet as opposed to the PC box) and presented on the screen.

So, no reinvention of the core technology or application of the technology, just a different commercial model (you rent the stuff, including the apps and programmes as opposed to buying them outright) and user interaction experience.

Looks nice though. Think of it as a VW Golf chassis and engine with a Bugatti body and interior. That's all it really is.

Hope this helps.

I came into this world screaming and covered in someone elses blood. I'll probably leave it in the same way.

The small print.

My comments and observations are my own, invariably "tongue in cheek", and definitely, sarcastic in nature. Therefore, do not take my advice, suggestions, observations or posts seriously or personally and remember if you do, do anything, that I may have suggested, then you have done this based solely on your own decision to do so and therefore you acknowledge responsibility and accountability (I know, in this modern world these are the hardest things for you to accept) for your actions and indemnify me of any influence, responsibility, accountability, or liability, in what you have done. In other words, you did it, so suffer the consequences on your own!
