900 Series engine question

Was wondering if any Lotus historians can help confirm a piece of info regarding the Lotus 900 Series engines?

Remember reading an article a while back on the development of the Lotus 900 Series engines where before settling on the 2.0 907, a 1.6 or 1.8 unit was proposed and rejected by Colin Chapman though cannot seem to find any information confirming a proposed sub-2.0 900 Series engine.

Not really what am after.

Thought the sub-2.0 900 Series might also be connected to the Jensen-Healey or in the context of the 1973 Oil Crisis for the then upcoming Elite / Eclat though cannot seem to find anything even in the Yellow Book.
