First drive – Evora S SR – Mallorca

After following and reading every review, blog, video, … about the Evora since 2009 but couldn’t afford one, I finally took the chances and rented one at Mallorca.

Mallorca? Yes, but only in winter. Then the streets are almost empty.

Coming from an Esprit SE, driven mostly in the Alps, I thought it would be the perfect test ride to make up my mind if I have to buy one (and which model).

Had the Evora S SR with manual gearbox for a day and did the following route:

What can I say, it was a perfect day!

Short review: Forget the reviews!

What the … are they talking about? This car is brilliant. Full stop.

Problems with the gear change? Uhm.. nope. Not one miss shift.
Finding reverse a problem? No. Just double clutch and it went in smoothly

(As with the Esprit, don’t fight it and it does not fight back.)

It feels perfect and just brings you in the state of flow immediately.

Buy, buy, buy..(if you can afford it)  ;-)

This brought a genuine smile to my face.  I couldn't agree more.

Lovely looking car and what a great first proper drive.  Ownership only gets better with time.  Enjoy!

Great to see another victim infected by the Lotus virus.

I noticed the car is registered in Northern Germany?

If you have the choice between a Stairway to Heaven and a Highway to Hell don't forget the Nomex®!

Captain,  Lotus Airways. We fly lower!

The was intersting to me too. Seems the guy has bought it in Germany, but it is now a rental in Mallorca.

Hiring in Majorca sounds like a great idea, can you please post a link to where you hired it from?

There is only one place, EB cars. I have done some negotiation about the rental price and free KM, but seems not much room for it.

Some more pics and impression of the road by EVO.

When I was looking for my car, I showed my OH pictures of Evora's in this colour.  It got a strong veto to my dismay.

We then went on a factory tour last year, the week after I purchased and she raved about the colour and said it was her favourite - women! :wallbash:

Looks stunning.

That is an eye-watering price, but to be perfectly honest I have no idea if it's the market rate or not.

So true. But than again, before spending EUR 50-70K I prefer a test drive for more than 1h in a real life situation.

It is a pitty that almost no Evoras can be rented. There was one from Hertz only in Germany, but it seems not anymore.

So I was happy to find one. I have burned that money and don't regret it ;-)
