Lotus Exige Cup 380

I was in big doubt to do this for warranty. But if I want to be happy I know understand I have to go to Komotec to fix this issue, you are right.

But then we come back to what is said before: buy a 350, bring it to Komotec is the way to go. Or just be happy with what you get :D

I compare not only a Komotec to this, I still have all data for track use from BEFORE the Komotec upgrade and there you see power output on track is not a big diff, that's also my point.

But yes, global you are right: Komotec here I come, warranty bye bye.

I have ordered the new 380 Cup in black/red, to replace my 360 Cup black/red.... they'll start building it on Monday, and I'm visiting Hethel next Thursday........

Congrates @Swiss360Cup Great choice :-) I'm still thinking of going down the 380 Cup route but really want to see one in the flesh before committing to moving on the LF1, just waiting for my dealer to get in touch today to see if I can pop along to the factory next week to take a quick look, although I'm pretty sure I'm going to love it, apparently there are only a couple left unsold from the 60 to be made, I'm sure a lot of those are going to dealers but not a bad weeks work for Lotus :-)

Yes, I guess dealers have placed their orders....... my dealer ordered 5....... and sold 3 already........ He asked me what specs I would like and told me he'll take the order if I change my mind... pretty sure to sell it....... but I'm happy with my 360 Cup too :):) The 380 must be great...I'll see a couple of them on the production line next week since I'm visiting Hethel on Thursday

I am reliably informed that car no 49 was a white one sold via Hoffmans.

The 50th car was to such a different spec (Cup R wings etc etc with orange paint and special interior) I don't think it got the 50th of 50 plaque

They also sold car 12 and car 25

Many of the cars between 26-48 where sold in Germany, a batch was sold by the dealer close to the ring (6 cars or something and we think between 40-46)

The 360 appeared to sell slowly at first, but sales pace really seemed to pick up with the introduction of the 350 platform

I have Nr 13 and my dealer in Geneva still has the White 44/50... he sold 3 other 360 Cup, I don't know which number but I can ask him.... Lotus-am-Ring (komotec) must have sold a lot too.....

My name is officially on the order for a black one but I have the option to leave it to my dealer if I change my mind.......I'll see end of this month what I do after they've fixed the wiring harness of my 360 cup which caused me a lot of trouble since I purchased the car.... and is a pre-condition for me before I confirm......very complicated process to go through the customer service and warranty protocols....and very old school wiring in the Lotus cars.....

Congratulations, it will look absolutely incredible in either orange. Most visually OTT Lotus since the Sport 300 I reckon.

You have seriously had a hole burning in your wallet lately! Still looking for an Esprit? Or has the 380 Cup put a stop to that?

Will have a play on photoshop for you.

Congratulations!  It will look awesome in orange.  Be nice to hear more about the spec you've chosen.

I appreciate that many will be going in to dealer stock but it is just great news for Lotus that this car has pretty much sold out its build run in such quick time.

You are no wrong Jonny, I have been looking at all options to invest some toy money into Lotus, the Esprit would have been great but wasn't meant to be for whatever reason but will keep looking for one although it will have to be next year sometime once the funds have recovered a little, I even thought of trying to recreate your Esprit Colour scheme on the 380 but I've really got an orange itch I need to scratch :-)

I checked yesterday and Lotus had 10 380's left, so they sold 6 in 24 hours, not bad business, so today was decision time and I just couldn't resist the 380 styling, I admit I am a tart and it will probably never see a track which I am sure some people will frown at but it will make me happy.

It is a shame it doesn't come with harness's and extinguisher as standard so need to decide if to go the whole hog and add them, hopefully Monday's factory visit will clarify on the best way forward.

One thought, by going for a different colour to one of the 4 announced, could that detract from any future re-sale value or add to it being it will be something more unique, not really sure about that one.

Roll on Monday, I love going to the factory.

Sorry, meant to say thanks, that will be awesome, hopefully it will really help as I just can't decide between the 2 different oranges, I think I've looked at every picture and You Tube video of Orange Exige's ever made.

A non-standard colour definitely won't detract from the value, especially in a desirable colour like orange.

If you're not going near the track I wouldn't bother with the extinguisher. I love all that motorsport stuff but it adds a fair bit of weight. I understand that the airbag delete option now includes A-frame harness bar and harness for the £2500. It makes far more sense and is cheaper to do it at the factory rather than dealer fit.

I did think £2500 sounded a bit steep for the airbag delete so maybe this was the intention all along?

Thanks Jonny, that is great, a real help, I'm definately leaning towards the Signature orange, I think the stronger, bolder colours suit the Exige better, as for the red detailing on front that can't be changed unfortunately so I'll have to see what it looks like when complete, hopefully with the red tow eye and brake calibers it will pull it all together.

Yes good to know that you get more than just the air bag delete for £2500, I understand Lotus put the harnesses in the boot for the dealer to fit, I guess that has something to do with some law or something, will probably go with that.

I just hope they fit the same exhaust as is on the 380 and don't go for a quieter version due to its track focus, a question to ask on Monday.

Does anyone know if the Signature Orange is metallic?

One more quick question, to add air con or not?

Personally I never use it and on a cup car you'd think you'd want to keep the weight down to a minimum but my dealer is telling me that re-sale values are really hit when air con is not included if I ever do decided to sell it at some point in the future.

I'd rather put that money towards adding the extinguisher for the real Cup look.

I think the red detailing works better with the signature orange, but either will be awesome!! Congratulations, I absolutely love the 380 Cup look but it's too pricey for me (still waiting to see what the facelift Elise 250 Cup comes up with).

Harnesses and airbag delete is a must I think and I'd heed the dealer advise re the aircon if it's going to be primarily a road car.

I'm dead jealous :)

Paul, great car, great colour choice. Yes air con a must!

Are you keeping the LF1 or selling it?

How many miles has the car done?

Did you get the Cup on the 50:50 offer or does that offer not apply on the Cup cars.

Funny thing is I am trying to get hold of a S2 Exige Cup 260, hopefully in orange!

Enjoy your visit to the factory.

I was hoping to see the new 250 Cup before jumping but with the 380 Cup selling so fast I had to make a decison, still love the rear end on the 250 Cup though, I'll see what I can find out about the new 250 on Monday :-)

LF1 will be up for sale at Lotus Silverstone shortly, only got around 1900 miles on it he says embarrassingly :-) going to be a great buy for someone as mint with Larini back box fitted for a bit more of a fruiter sound.

Still waiting to find out if 50:50 is an option, if it is available I'll probably take it then I can load the 380 with all the goodies and worry about the balance in a couple of years.

Anyone who orders one without ac is my instant hero but I would order with. Not for resale, an Elise doesn't need it but an Exige does much more so, unless perhaps you got the soft top conversion. If the plan is mainly road use I'd say deffo go for ac. No benefit to the weight saving for road use. Massive kudos though!
