rear side panel light bulb is out

Recommended Posts

How on earth do I change out the rear side panel light bulb? I was told I need to drop the rear bumper. Really? OMG. There are no screws to remove the fixture that I can see. This one's really got me by the b***s.

Sorry I don't have this model to advise you - but am intrigued as to whether the cover pops out or is accessed via the boot or underneath.

Is this image similar to your car - i.e. indicator build into the side of the bumper?

you can access the light bulb from inside, there is a rubber beak like seal that you have to get your fingers inside.

Removing that colored plastic assembly does require the lower valence and at least part of the bumper cover to be removed though...

Thank you Travis! However, there are walls that do not seem to have a way around to get to the plastic beak, as the only thing I see is a plastic rubber tube the wire apparently goes through to the plastic light assy.

Look on the bright side, when you take of the valance and the bumper you can replace the rusty nuts and boltplates, so when the other light needs replacing it is a much easier and quicker job. 😜

I think it should be a failure for car manufacturers to build a car and not have the owner or someone slightly more techy to be able to change it at the side of the road !

I remember reading about the new model voltswagon beetle when it came out, garages quoting 1hr labour to change the headlight bulb as they had to remove the front road wheel andrive inner wheel arch liner !
