  1. And following this topic, can someone telle me please, if it is possible to pot on a Sport300 frontspoiler instead of the smaller standard one on an SE? And should the Sport300 be fastened the same way with 30 small taps (?) Kind regards, Jacques.
  2. I know that, as many have said so over time, but I have used titanium bolts on my motorcycles as well as stainless for over 27 years with no ill effect ever. No more plated bolt for me, unless it wouldn't be safe to use them in certain Places. My own experience is that 2,5AL3V titanium bolts are softer as you say in their threads. I've seen a Picture of a Renault UN1 gearbox which seems to have been put together with alubolts, and that is one thing I would surely not do, as they are very soft. I think I would use 6AL4V titan bolts substituting some of the normal 8,8 steel bolts. Not higher tensile strength like 10,9 etc. Thniking of bicycleframes, the titanium frame can outlast a steelframe by factor 8, before it Begins to shift gear by the mere hard pedaling uphill (I know, I did Wether this have any relevans to bolts I really don't know Just for the info for fatigue, before turning soft. Anyone ever used titanium on their Esprits? Kind regards, Jacques.
  3. Hi all, If I change all the bolts that holdt the split cases of the gearbox to 6AL4V titanium, would the bolts hold the torque reactions in the box? Or is stainless better, or is the only way steel as per original? I should mention, I prefer the titanium bolts. Kind regards, Jacques.
  4. And here. Low resoloution, but nice video. And here is a nice and funny one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmFpmTYqBtU Cheers, Jacques.
  5. And this guy from Finland: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rCsTi4YFNx8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WHRHzN3t34 Cheers, Jacques.
  6. Old thread, but would there be a renewed interest in some of these super super nice Things made today, with possibly new owners to many Esprits? Ì am in for some carbon fiber panels, trays, seats etc, and if there are any others, please write it here, so we can put a smiling pressure on some of the wonder-do-thing guys Seriously, if would add some greatness to the Esprit, and save kilos, and people can just paint them (I would) if they want to keep original looks. So, please put your opinion and eventual interest here, if this still appeals to you! Kind regards, Jacques.
  7. Hi all, I am looking for a set of nice one-piece buckets seats, original from Esprit S4s/GT3/Sport300. I would prefer magnolia leather, but anything is of interest. Send me a pm please. Kind regards, Jacques.
  8. May I ask why there's been many, or at least some incidents of rear hubs or front hubs failing? Are they weak? Are they not up to the job of big brakes? Or is it something else? Kind rgards, Jacques.
  9. Sent you a pm Pits. Jacques.
  10. While I don't know what's going on with Lotus at all, I can say that in Copenhagen, the only dealer around these Waters, as far as I know, have moved the very nice Lotus dealer-floor to a back street house, and on first floor. This have made Lotus cars and name invisible to everyone passing by. Berfore, a lot of people stopped by and took a look at Lotus's nice cars. Especially when there was lexus, Porsche and Lamborghini's next door. Now, there's no exposition, no signs, na smart sportscars to look at. Just boring VW's that you can buy anywhere. Before people could pass by and press their nose flat and get the "insane" idea that they could buy an elise instead of a superboring BMW. Now, there's no longer this settleing of the Lotus' idea in peoples mind. That is not exactly what I think is good marketing. Tragic. Cheers, Jacques.
  11. Old, shaky, but fun..And a red shirt http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qlZrYyxbWc Cheers, Jacques.
  12. Here's a fun old one displaying the Turbo SE. Enjoy, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfEBDUVygcg Cheers, Jacques.
  13. Are those Lotus parts gone wrong? Cheers, Jacques.
  14. First of all, real lowering dampers, adjustable or not, have shorter bodies, so that the spring movement is always in the dampers optimum movement area, helper springs or not. Progressive springs are fine for road use, but linear is the choice on track, as they are more predictable and surface is better. Adjustable hight is important, not to lower it, but to find the best response and weighting. Adjustable high speed bump and return, plus low speed bump and return are top, because it gives you better grip under various conditions, but is expensive. Personally, I would try to keep the Avo's for a start, but not with standard spring, but harder springs. Plus new a bit harder bushes all over. I've been running a few different coilover, amongst them cheaper ones, some okay, most really bad. So by experience, I have bought 'Ohlins and KW, and I am fully satisfied with those. I had them changed and built to personal spec, and that gave the last bit. One thing I will mention is this: The cheap coilovers are too hard, and the car bounces. The expensive ones (read better most often), have some kind of adjustable comfort, while still being very superior in movement and road drivability, and stay planted in all conditions; you can rebuild them and get Ehm changed to your needs, and they last way better. That is just my own experience, which is not from my Lotus, as I only recently bought it, but am beginning to Work on that now. Kind regards, Jacques.
  15. Hmm, all of you who have those really big wheels, could we see some Pictures of those nice wgeels? ps: I went from standard SE15/16" Wheels, to 17/18" V8, and I think they are big... Well, they are not big. So please show us some serious Wheels Kind regards, Jacques.
  16. I hope so, but I am struggleing to find the right wire to get the signal from (for the new relay). Posted in that thread regarding Electric chargecooler pump installations. Kind regards, Jacques.
  17. Thanks Travis, I have a question though, to understand if that is the right wire I should splice into. In the Service Notes, section MK, Chargecooler car, Electric scemes, sheet 4a, there is a "solenoid relay" that have a Green/Orange wire to the ecu. The others looks like green or green/various 12 volt supplies to various solenoids: "wastegate", "exhaust back press." and "throttle Jack". Others looks Green only as supplies of 12Volt from other parts (fused 10A) of the wireing in the car. So, should I use the Green/Orange wire between the ecu and the "solenoid relay" (at leg 85 on the relay), as the signal wire to control my new relay (fused 5A) for the Electric chargecooler pump (and then just a plus and minus to battery) ? And will that specific new function plus the three mentioned in the service notes, then be controlled directly from the ecu, which opens and Closes as in your description? I'm afraid that I could not paste a Picture of it in this thread, as it won't accept the Picture or url. Please bare with me, as this is not my strongest side Kind regards, Jacques.
  18. exactly. that german style with way too narrow tires are dangerous when driving. Seen it many times on VW's. Depending on the Construction of the mech that supports the Wheels, a wrong angle when lowered too much will give some very strange high speed handling. But for show: nice Personally, I think Lotus cars are riding too high. I don't give a rat about comfort, or car being tiresome to drive for many hours, as long as Wheels are kept on tarmac and conering is very good. Comfort? That's for old men and women. I've driven all over Europe in my former lowered very hard Gold and now Corrado, and intend to do the same on my Esprit. Well, if someone wants to build the propper suspension, that is Cheers, Jacques
  19. True, and I wrote an email asking for prices and parts (roof and seats), some time ago, bu never got an answer. May just be a deay or something, so I'll wait some more. Point is, 've seen nice Pictures of Sport300 seats, just made in carbon clad in leather, carbonairbox, light surrounds, roof etc. Wouldbe nice to know if all this is still available. Kind regards, Jacques.
  20. That Black van is a normal rar, sort of. And that just shows that your Esprit is almost a painted stribe on the tarmac Very nice (and flat) looking... Kind regards, Jacques.
  21. Sorry for asking, but I would like to know, if carbon stuff for Stevens Esprits are a thing of the past? Or are there still someone making up parts that one can buy? Kind regards, Jacques.
  22. So BMW makes you cr.. in your pants? Knew they didn't drive well... Cheers, Jacques.
  23. Hi Yasou, Sure I am. I speak to Kim once in a while.I live around 25 minutes drive from him. Regarding oil, I would very much like if you can give me a few more info on where to get it, if possible. Kind regards, Jacques.
  24. Sorry for your loss; my condolences. Please light a candle for your father. Kind regards, Jacques.
