  1. Why not rip all the tracks/albums onto an MP3 player, then use one of those cassette adaptor thingys to play them through the cassette player? That way you won't have dozens of cassettes/boxes cluttering up the car, nor all those long forgotten problems with stretched and snapped tapes.
  2. As some of you know, Penny (my wife) bought one of those new fangled Mini Cooper S's a couple of months ago. She's not generally a car person but is well and truly smitten with this one. So much so that she's recently joined a Mini Forum is busily making lots of new friends (sound familiar?). Anyway, tonight we went off to our first Mini meet. 15 or so Minis in convoy from Colchester to Frinton, where we parked up by the greensward, did the usual tyre kicking and chatting thing, followed by fish and chips out of the paper. Chatting to the guy we'd parked next to, who'd turned up in a shiny new ragtop Cooper S. Talking about where we'd come from and what we did for a living etc (as you do). Mentioned that he came from Maldon where he runs a precision engineering company. Vague bells began to ring. "Don't suppose you've ever owned a Lotus Esprit?" asked I. "Err, yes...two actually" he answered, looking completely perplexed (we'd never met before). As some of you will have guessed by now, it turned out to be Paul Webber. Weird or what?
  3. Fantastic news, Ambrose As you say, GT really is a top bloke and an all round good egg. Really knows and loves his Esprits too. He's also a real perfectionist... so if he's impressed by a car it really does mean something. James
  4. Did Gerald get you sorted, Ambrose?
  5. If it was "Chamberlain Engineering (Racing) Limited" it would seem it went to the wall in 1999 - clicky (scroll down to last line) Where would we be without Google?
  6. Talking of beauty... Kim Wilde Wonder if I've still got that poster somewhere? Some of her toons weren't bad either... Love Blonde (chosen more for the aesthetics than melody )
  7. Afraid I'd have to drop out TK. Last day before a fortnight's holiday always sees me in office until silly o'c desk clearing, then home to pack etc. But I'll let you buy me a birthday drink over the weekend of 23/9 if you like... Worth considering changing your b'day celebrations - or at least the LEF element - to that weekend anyway? Venue availability might be better and only one lot of travelling for us lot?
  8. Now you're talking Howard... loved all that. The era of "The Casual" - sports shirts from the likes of Sergio Tacchini/Fila, Farah hopsack trousers, topped off with Lyle & Scott/Pringle golfing sweaters (preferably cashmere) and a pair of moccasins... and we thought we looked the mutt's
  9. Spooky... must be psychic energy flowing 'twixt Oxford and Exeter
  10. My finger slipped off the 3 onto the 2 as I was typing... honest guv! Bet you wish you were one of my clients don't you Ian?
  11. Esprit>Tape Player>Tape>Music for No, I'm not entirely convinced either
  12. Another 38 posts Iain and you'll earn your "T" - at this rate should be done by tomorrow Back to the music - how did we forget Phil Collins? Was a huge fan of Genesis too.
  13. Hmm... wonder who's today's Top Poster (by a country mile)?
  14. Right chaps, all this reminiscing is proving too much for me, I'm off to bed!
  15. Another long forgotten but favourite band - XTC
  16. Beastie Boys, eh? I'd (fortunately) completely forgotten about them. Weren't they the band that started the VW badge stealing thing? And how did we forget The Cure?
  17. Hmm, that reminds me of a puke green/yellow Motorhead album I've got somewhere... As to the other, think I'll plump for the "or what"!
  18. In that case I'll wheel out The Police then...
  19. Think I'm going up to the loft at the weekend for a root through the vinyl...
