  1. "Not many gentlemen I know use the term 'f*** off c***' in polite conversation." And that's why he's no gentleman, and even banned? Meanwhile Bibs there are people on here that you and I have discussed who's behavior goes way beyond the alleged atrocity of a statement that I've probably heard in 98% of every drinking establishment I've been to in England, Ireland, and Scotland, (and not always directed at me, surprisingly ). I thought it was part of the Lord's drinking prayer in the UK for cryin' out loud. I do hope all is well my friend, Art
  2. A little known government social program in the USA from 1985-88 had the Reagan administration issuing IROC's to any musclehead, jock, lifeguard, or shoremonger in PA, NJ, and NY. I was never awarded one. 27 years time has revealed, compared to what else was available in the USA at the time, the IROC wasn't all that bad. I kinda like them now.
  3. Hi Bibs, I'll be in Barcelona that night I've just discovered , Nadine and I won't be there. Sorry, will most definitely miss being there - again. Art
  4. Great information Roo as usual from you! Thanks. Just got back into town after a long trip, got your E-mail as well mate, reply forthcoming. Edit: I guess I was just thinking that the thin green fabric wouldn't be quite as robust as our JPS corduroy, but I'll try your method nonetheless, trial it on a small area. Thanks, Art
  5. Hello All, Pardon me if this was covered somewhere here previously, I did do a preliminary search to no avail. I've just bought a 1977 S1 gelcoat white S01 paint code with Tartan. Does anyone have a good way for cleaning the interior fabric? The interior is completely intact with no tears, rips, or even loose stitching. Seat foam is still firm and even the headliner is nice and taught, so I'd like to do this one right. The only issue appears to be minor but uniformly dirty from decades of sitting, as the car was last registered in 1985. It is minor enough that I could easily leave it as is and be happy with it, but if anyone has a way to effectively clean this material, I'd love to do it. Dry shampoos? etc? ... Thanks, Art 1977 Esprit S1 white/tartan 1979 Esprit S2 WC Commemorative Fed #047
  6. Thanks Steve! I'll get the pub recommendations next time. Sitting in the Palace hotel now with one too many beers as it is! Art
  7. Hello all, I'm in center city Manchester (not too far from MOSI) quite a bit, and will be there tomorrow, but I've never ventured out looking for that perfect Excel, Talbot-Sunbeam, or XR2, or any other classic for that matter! Is there any cool vintage/classic car dealers that are within walking distance from the center of town, just so I can pass the time before I hoist the first pint later in the day? Thanks! Art
  8. Hmm, your second statement there could maybe torpedo my S1 upper body half/S2 lower body half theory. Please don't ever refute me with real factual data. :-) Art
  9. Cool info on this particular car. thanks. Art S2's had the battery all the way in the back under the trunk floor, whereas S1's had it next to the engine under the "quarter window" further forward right, or starboard :-) side. Art
  10. Some very late S1's did have Speedline wheels fitted from new. Totally different topic, but this wheel subject also always gets me thinking of the much-talked about "S1.5" Esprits - late S1's that have an S2 front spoiler. I suspect that this was a case of an S1 upper half being mated to an S2 lower half right at the S1/S2 changeover, and I'm willing to bet that any late S1 (or "S1.5") that has an S2 front spoiler, ALSO has the battery in the rear trunk area a la S2. Didn't mean to hijack the thread from post #1 !!,sorry, but in answer to your question, some late and pure S1's DID have Speedlines fitted from new. Whether or not the yellow S1 above is one of them or not, I don't know, but it did happen nonetheless (I suspect that the yellow one in your pic IS one of them, as does a certain very knowledgeable retailer in Dorking...). :-) Art
  11. Wow, I am honoured. Up to this point in my life I've really only ever inspired adolescent behavior and drunken debauchery. For those that weren't at NEC, the TLF area was the best of the lot. Nice work and thanks. Art
  12. ... and if your CEO is anything like ours, I assure you that he does not see you as anything near his equal in this pursuit. Cheers, from a 757/767 driver of the ones with the big blue tails out of Newark/NY. Art PS, Bibs, great seeing you at NEC last week.
  13. A little of both, since my reassignment wasn't entirely complete yet. I ran out of money. As Bibs noted, I've been wondering about Mr. Chris myself ... Art
  14. I can chalk it up to all that time I spent in Thai massage parlours. Art
