  1. Stunning car great work, makes me want one.
  2. Always love this question...Just interested to hear if anyone is working towards an achievable car collection goal. Here's mine. Lotus Esprit Turbo white/red Lotus Esprit S1 white/tartan BMW 3.0 CSL RHD white/black Volvo P1800 (Jensen Built) white/red Lancia Flaminia (Touring bodied) white Cant imagine a better or more enjoyable way to invest 100,000 odd pounds.
  3. I will know more I guess when it arrives. You can only know so much about these cars before you actually own one, even if you think you have read it all. Matt, How is the S1 coming along? Want one next to my Turbo within a year or so!
  4. You can faintly hear it when the camera goes into the engine bay. A few people that I have shown think there is a tapping sound coming from the engine.
  5. One more thing to note here is the bumpers on the early Turbos that actually have the Mini clubman lights (not Lucas circular or Cobo), look to have smaller, slimmer openings. Does this mean that there are in fact 2 different S3 bumpers? See pictures.. I'm using a comparison that Trevor posted somewhere and I had the pictures saved comparing an '81 Turbo car to a later Giugiaro car. The side wall cutouts appear to be a different shape to house the bigger indicators and larger in height also.
  6. HI everyone, The Esprit Turbo is arriving shortly, the previous owner before I bought it supplied this video showing a tapping sound and also mention that there is oil dripping onto the exhaust. Have a look at the video and if anyone has any input it would be greatly appreciated. http://youtu.be/TtcX...3eWEs?hd=1&t=2s
  7. Will a 3-spoke Excel wheel work, or too big?
  8. That is definitely the right thinking. It's amazing how many people around that try and talk you out of buying one that don't understand the whole thing. Thankfully everyone on TLF are on the same page. S1, 2, 3, Turbo??
  9. Can't confirm it's the actual car but an Esprit Turbo. Picture courtesy of Lotusespritturbo.com
  10. An exciting time ahead, take your time and pick the right car. Looking forward to seeing what you get. I'm waiting for my car to arrive in Australia after looking for a couple of years.
  11. Ben to be honest I think Alpine did lose it after the late 80's with their designs. The mid-80's units are still beautiful in their own way. Maybe we should do a swap of my modern head unit and big rear speakers!
  12. After months of research into head units and tracking down what came in these cars as standard, I came close to buying various Blaupunkt SQR head units, however this NOS, never out of the plastic Alpine turned up that I had to have. The unit currently in the car is a later CD player that I'm not particularly fond of. The Esprit is possibly one of the only cars that could visually get away with one of these Alpine units. A seriously cool piece of 80's Audio and purely functional looks. The car also has had larger speakers fitted behind the seats. Ideally I would like to bring these back a little and have them the stock size. Has anyone else had to 'bring back' their sound systems. To be honest a stereo in an Esprit is not a major requirement for me as long as it does its thing in the background..(I may have bought the FYEO soundtrack on cassette..Ssshh Side 1, track 5 Gonzalez takes a drive) I will post some other pictures of it installed once done.
  13. I will have to wait for the next one as my car arrives on May 20th. Are you guys all part of Aus Lotus club? There is a night on the 8th May I've been told. Alex.
  14. Will definitely be in board the Sunday runs. Nothing better than seeing a group of Esprits in the one spot as I've barely seen one on the road here. Roger unfortunately the turbo did not get as much screen time in For Your Eyes only as it did in The Spy who loved but definitely made an impact on me, enough to buy one.
  15. Peter, Lovely S3 and even nicer with red interior. I try and have all my cars in that colour combination My last car before the Esprit was a 'Saint Spec' early P1800. What kind of condition is the car in? Never been painted original? Alex.
  16. Thanks Gavin, I have just sent Lotus Bits an email. Hopefully some will turn up in due course. Alex.
  17. Looking for these if anyone has them.
  18. Thanks John, I may ask to have them removed before I ship the wheels if that is the case...
  19. Maybe this is the answer... First step: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=378955 Second: http://www.racelinedigital.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=6_75&zenid=a73186e9bf8420f9137f1af6a525cc67 http://www.gt40s.com/forum/vendor-manufacturer-announcements/26944-billboard-tire-stencils.html Final: http://www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/Plasti_Dip
  20. I have just bought a spare set of wheels that have come with these tires on the rear in 235/60/R15 http://www.shopbot.ca/ps-cooper-cobra-radial-gt-23560-r15-98t-rwl-asymmetric-ganzjahresreifen-28152438.html Are they any good? Not sure what rating they are..
  21. Thanks everyone. Ramjet, I too have the model for over 10 years and no longer have to stare at it which is good. Some great information on this forum and looks like quite a nice following in Australia although an extremely rare sight and Ben this car will look good next to your SE in the same colour combination. Looking forward to getting my hands on the car and enjoying it. I caught up with Paul Steinberg who has the 'Essex' spec white dry sump car a few years ago and he was kind enough to let me drive it and it did not dissapoint. It was only a matter of finding the right car from then on. Not many white/red cars around from what I have experienced.
  22. Was just interested to see who ihas any James Bond Lotus related items... Found myself searching ebay for a Seiko H357 5040 and Olin Mark VI skis etc...dont ask me why as I dont ski. Well I picked up this last week and is on its way from Germany... Any other takers?
  23. Yes, add me, Alexander Lance
  24. After looking at the side on press photo of Esprit Turbo OPW654W at Hethel for the past ten years, it is not until now that I own my very own Bond car that I have noticed something interesting about the lettering position on this car only. If you look at the two press shots of OPW654W, one at hethel and one with the girl in front of it, the car used in FYEO, the lettering appears to be a lot closer to the rim than on other Essex spec cars, Am I wrong? Also the front and rear lettering are the same sized where the Essex Liveried side on Press shot, the front lettering is noticeably smaller, which leads me to believe for the movie car, the letters were perhaps stenciled on in the appropriate position and size not taking into account where the actual Goodyear writing was raised? For optimum readability and exposure? In particular the rear wheel, the lettering is on the inner part, rather than the outer part if you look where the shadow line is. I can only imagine this was to make the text easier to read in the Bond movie as well as the press shots from side. Interested to hear thoughts on this. Have a look at the pictures comparing OPW654W to an Essex car which would have the same tires. I have looked at so many photos and now I'm not sure. The reason for all this is because I want to know whether it would be acceptable to stencil the Goodyear lettering on a later tire as we know we cant get the originals any more..Just a thought. Essex 007
