  1. I used to love the smell of Castrol R at the grasstrack events I used to attend great big thumping single JAP engines. Ah the smell the sound.
  2. I agree that on the whole a lot of crap does come out of china. I spent a long time dealing with a Chinese company on a composite gutter lining material. I thought we had it cracked they were half the price of one of our EU suppliers. Now anyone dealing with Chinese companies will know you have to pay up front for the goods so I transferred a very large sum of money to this Chinese supplier after recieving samples of the proposed finished product. It turned up and seemed o.k. but one of the very important components turned out to be only 10% of the specified quantity of 60%. You might as well talk to the hand or even some Lotus owners about the merits of a Porsche regarding getting any kind of point across. I have re-done the jobs where this material was used at my own expense and consider it a lesson well learnt.
  3. Despite my move over to the dark side (Porsche ownership) us Lotus anaoraks are still meeting at the Kings Head Wickham Square Monday night from 9 onwards. Ususal rules apply i.e. anyone turning up wearing Lotus Logo clothing will be buying the drinks all night. I will also have a nice Panerai watch for sale if anyone is feeling flush as part of my new pastime/hobby.
  4. I doubt whether the PS4 has a greater picture resolution as 1080p seems to be the best available at the moment, although many games for the PS3 are 1080p which do look very good I have no doubt software companies will rush out games for the PS4 but I bet a few will still be in 720p.
  5. I think I'll stick to my PS3 as its a damn good 3D bluray player. What they need to do is kick the backsides of the game developers, the new Skyrim add-on which apart from only just being available to us poor schmucks who have a PS3 is still only 720p resolution. For what is without doubt one of the very best games to be available for the PS3 the picture quality is total absolute crap. If you look at what people are achieving with add-ons for the PC and the kind of results you get on the PS3 it is really, really p**s poor. O.K. you don't get crashes with the PS3 as you do with the PC but the quality of the graphics are pathetic. It seems the manufacturers are aiming at the techno lemmings again just like the iphone 5
  6. I can't quite work out why Twickenham allowed them to destroy the pitch unless it was due for re-turfing. Lets face Cae'd or whatever crap cars they were got a good lot of publicity from it and probably footed the bill
  7.     No I am also looking at a Maserati Quattroporte (not the Duo Select)her indoors said if I buy another before selling the Espirt there will be hell to pay. I doubt very much whether that would be any different myself but thought it would be better not to clog up the drive. I mentioned to the chap who bought it to join here as it is a helpful place for info and getting to know other Lotus minded people so hopefully he will be joining the ranks of TLF soon.
  8. Well I sold the car this morning, the new owner and his wife will I am sure will be joining this forum and be making it along to the Newlands Corner meets as they live not far from there. I'll be sad to see it go and again had a lot of interest in the car with two people trying to sell their cars to be able to buy mine but as I said it's a first come first served basis. I am sure that the car will be looked after properly as well as the new owner seems to have the right attitude for Lotus ownership.
  9. I can see the altruistic side of going into this but I'm not sure I'd be that happy with the returns. I like to buy stocks and shares more as a hobby than for a living and prefer the rate of return you can get. For instance in July 2011 I bought £30K worth of Rolls Royce shares (not the cars) my holding is now worth in excess of £50K thats once I have paid the accountant and whatever tax is supposedly due. I like the white knuckle ride which is the stock market but I guess it's not for ther faint hearted because in August to October 2011 my total share stock I held was down £15K and I'm sure some people would have panicked
  10. I have to be a bit careful about getting hot under the collar at my age, the rush of blood can make me giddy and I tend to fall over
  11. Nice picture of an Esprit on this cover shot, mind you not sure if Vicki was wearing that outfit for a bet. Probably been influenced by the mature dating site me thinks eh Bibs?
  12.     Can't be because there isn't an advert for hookers yet, come on Bibs you know it makes sense
  13. Have to say Bibs the Mature dating pop up is providing me with endless entertainment I'm still trying to figure out if I've seen any of them in my local Morrisons as its says in the adverts they only live a mile or two away from me.
  14. When it was first announced I tracked down some pictures of it, I think it's a lovely looking car. It was at first going to have a carbon fibre chassis not sure if that is the case now
  15. Well Clarkson did talk some sense for once despite stating the obvious town centres are dying because people like me do not go into towns anymore due to overzelous parking wardens. I think I mentioned in a post a while ago I took my daughter to see Paloma Faith at the Portsmouth Guildhall and at 11.30 on a Saturday night there were swarms of them giving out tickets left right and centre. I still watch every Sunday night though
  16. I recently put the new tread pattern Toyo T1R's all round on my Esprit and find them very good.
  17.     I'm far too tight to buy a new car I'm happy to wait a few years
  18. Looks like I'll have to forget about the Evora then.
  19. What about People Power, I am sure within the menbership here there are enough people to be able to make a video and get it on you tube and try to get it to go viral ( don't know whet the F**K that is but I've heard about it)I think the likes of Chris Harris on Pistonheads and other tests go some way to promote the car but every little helps doesn't it. Perhaps a title like the car Top Gear missed or some other sarcastic sideswipe may have more impact.
  20. Maybe Fifth gear will do a test and people will pay more attention to what two real drivers think of the car rather than three comedians who think they can drive.
  21. Just to remind everyone that us Lotus anoraks will be meeting at the Kings Head, Wickham Square. about 9 o'clock Monday evening. Usual rules i.e. Casual dress, persons turning up wearing Lotus merchandise will buy the drinks all night.
  22. Thanks Steve, I can only truly appologise to him, trouble was at that time the Aston Martin, the 360 Modena and the Porsche (due to depreciation issues)were not twice as good as the Esprit for twice the money. The other guy I really hacked off was the chap from Guildford who sold his M3 to buy the Esprit as well. I have explained to him that since it was last up for sale it has new discs and pads plus new air-con refurb all for the same price as last time so my dithering has made the car a better prospect this time round. So far 5 people from Pistonheads have been in contact and two have had a drive but I'm in no great hurry as the right AMG hasn't been found yet.
