  1. It has records of cambelt changes but earlier ones. It has a massive amount of receipts with it, as far back as 1990 where it has 1st and 2nd gear syncros repaced at the Lotus dealer right the way throught to 2012 when I last spent on it. It was MoT'd in 2011 and has done few miles since so wouldn't be an issue to put a ticket on it. Yeah ebay prices are varying wildly, one with new paint and interior is £12k and like you say one that may need a few bits if less than half that.
  2. Hi, I'm thinking of letting this go due to work commitments and not being able to spend the time on it I think it deserves. Any idea of value? I've put two reconditioned calipers on it from SJ Sportscars since I've had it. I've bought a cambelt and full service kit for it which I simply haven't got round to doing. Really don't want to sell it but I'm so busy with work I just can't see me using it. I don't want to Ebay it as I'd rather it goes to an enthusiast on here just don't know where to price it as it doesn't have an Mot.
  3. Haha yes. I need to get that changed don't I. I've got a few motors including two RS 2000s.
  4. Thanks all, had myself properly worried . I'll try and get the alternator belt correctly tightened on Friday.
  5. http://i1034.photobucket.com/albums/a425/bigched/lotus/100_2013_zps80517382.jpg Thought that would work, nearly there.
  6. Haha thankfully I didn't do that. I turned it very slightly and because I was worried I'd fudged the timing or something I turned it back the other way to correct it. Only around 1/4 to 1/2 inch movement in total. Blood amateur that I am. I'll try that technique Friday on my next day off and hope she hold charge and doesn't cut out on the way to the mot station.
  7. Right, possible wally of the day award after this post. This morning I've tried replacing the alternator belt on my '89 Turbo. I got the old one off easily thanks to advice from this forum. I put the new one on but couldn't work out how to tighten it. I tightened the tensioner bracket and alternator etc but still way too loose. I then put a 19mm socket onto the nut that sits in the middle of the bottom pulley which the alternator belt wraps around and turned it very slightly. In doing this I noticed the top two pulleys move and obviously the belt moved with it. I then panicked and turned it back the other way to get it back to where it was. Movement was probably 1/4-1/2 inch at most. Have I buggered anything up or have I just turned the engine over by hand and done no damage?
  8. Struggling to get any of the other photos on due to their size?
  9. Right, progress as of this morning. Follow instructions to get the belt off worked perfectly, the belt itself was pretty loose anyway so got it off easily. Put the new one one, tightened the alternator back up, tightened the nut attaching the alternator to the tensioner bracket and then got stuck. I couldn't work out how to get the belt tight. In trying to work the out I put a socket on the bolt of the very bottom pulley which is the other end of the alternator belt wraps around. I had a bot of a panic then because in turing it the cambelt starting turning because I presume this is the crank pulley? I hope I was just effectively turning the engine by hand?
  10. Brill, really appreciate the advice as haven't done one before (daft I know) I'll get that done tomorrow. Next job for it is the cambelt swap but I won't be tackling that one, quite a bit above my level unfortunately.
  11. Thanks fella, yes it's the one for the alternator as this is hopefully what's causing the problem. Any special tools needed or will my trusty socket and spanner set suffice? 12. It's is annoying but it is 23 years old and has been off the road for a few years so I expect a few teething issues. This morning a nice new fan belt arrived. Are they easy to change over? I also ordered a cambelt and tensioner which will be done in due course before the car is used properly. I think I may have to change the odd bush due to the age of them but other than that all seemed well. I'll give the carbs a tune up, the RAC chap said they were slightly off but not much so just to get them spot on.
  13. HAHA yeah saw it last night, I'd love to know the courier company he uses! Would save me a fortune. Car looks terrible.
  14. At last brakes are all sorted! Finished them yesterday and took the car out for a bit of a test drive (on a private road). It is fantastic, was only crawling around because it's been sat for good while, it felt like an event sitting in it. I left the engine cover off deliberately and don't think I'll ever put it back on! Gears were really smooth even first, clutch was good and the brakes work which is always nice. Now the con, as I was about to roll it back into the garage it cut out. I tried restarting it but it simply would not go. I tried jumping it from my other car but no luck. I changed the plugs on it for brand new ones (had them ready to service it) but still wouldn't go. There was a bit of fuel on the plugs but not so much that it was flooded to hell. Checked every wire, connector etc. no luck. The RAC guy arrived whack his jump kit on it and whoosh straight into life off the key. Basically, the auxiliary belt had started to squeal which he stated needed tightening, because it is loose it's not spinning the alternator properly hence causing a flat battery. When I bought the car along with the brakes the owner stated that it would run for ages stood still which it does but would cut out after a short distance driving. An annoying way to find out the fault but I'm hoping it's as simple as that.
  15. Oh it'll still be there haven't had chance this week but I'm off work until Wednesday this week so will get down there and have a nose. Andretti's one would be an American numbered one anyway so not from the same numbering sequence as this one.
