  1. Hello again everyone I am in a slight dilema over my latest problem, when I first aquired the elite I decided to remove the dash panel, all the guages are working correctly but the wiring is in a hell of a mess I am not sure if Iwill be able to sort it out it's a bit out of my leaque However that is not why I am writing this, the other problem I have is the gerchange ,when I stripped the dash panel out I decided to remove the gearstick trim including the small cover panels and the gearstick gaiter which I aquired from Lotusbits' I also had some small chrome trims which decorate this area ,I managed to put it all back together and guess what ,I can only engage first gear now if I want any of the other gears I have to move all the gaiters etc.,Dose
  2. Thank you very much, I must get hold of a workshop manuai
  3. Deep inside the o/s footwell is a recess in the side where the trim panel is, in this recess is the massive wirimg loom which has to be in a certain way to avoid pushing the trim panel on to the accelerator pedal .together with the loom is a set of white plastic pipes about 10mm thick which control the vacuum for the headlights these pipes are connected together with a T piece at the moment all these pipes are disconnected and it looks like pain in the a### job to get it all back together .Does anyone posess a wiring diagram for these pipes Thanking you in anticipation Roan
  4. They told me they had screens and they were £300 they asked me if I wanted a green top, the two chaps who said they would fit it for£100 would be for all the trim removed and replaced they appeared to know what they were talking about
  5. There is a possibility that we could ask for some discoumt ,we would have to collect them ,I stopped a windscreen van going up my street and asked the two chaps if they could fit a new screen in my elite ,they said they had done them before and would charge me £100 not bad eh'
  6. I personally prefer the red one but i suppose the green one is more classy This is mine still working on it ,it requires a new windscreen four new tyres and a new head linning and the headlights require attention
  7. Hello again everyone Yesterday I was trynig to tidy up the old head linning to make way to make way for someone to come and fit a new one ,I came across the small projector lamp mounted next to the interior light I ordered some new bulbs from Ebay because there is some old postings on here telling you what sort of bulbs they are .My problem is I can't split it to gain access to the bulb and do the head lights have to be on before it will work Roan
  8. Thank you for your reply ,I had a thought when I was doing it that it should be a bit higher but I suppose that is for a new engine my engine has covered 60,000 and I am satisfied that they are all the same just over 120 psi I don,'t think it requires stripping down yet Thanks again for your reply to my post Roan
  9. I have just completed the compression test, and what a job I had ,the spark plugs were very tight. I know they are not very old because I purchased them when I bought the motor. The main problem I had was I could not screw the test gauge into the cylinder head and after a great deal of thought and head scratching I found there was a brass adapter screwed on the end of the gauge which was a larger diameter than a spark plug I screwed this off and hey presto the end of the hose on the gauge was the same diameter as a spark plug so I continued to carry out the test .I tested all four cylinders and to my relief the readings were all the same or very similar 120 PSI now thats out of the way I can carry on restoring the car it wants a new screen they have them in stock at LOTUSBITS about £350,00 plus fitting it also wants four new tyres so thank goodness the compression test was OK if it wasn't I would have to sell it Roan
  10. Hi once again Does anyone know what the compression test reading should be on this model after starting the car up in my drive the guy who lives next door comes around to tell me it's missing ,to be honest it doesn't sound too bad to me and there is no vibration ,following his comments I thought I would do it ,I have a decent compression tester the one that screws into the head and doesn't just rely on pushing it in the spark plug hole ,is it best to remove all the spark plugs when carrying out this test Cheers for now Roan
  11. Hi again everyone What have I done ?,I think I have opened a can of worms today ,since I have had the elite there has only been a couple of bulbs working in the dash board So I decided to take the front of to check out the bulbs I don't think I will ever get it back together again .There is absolutely NO room to do anything in there I can't even get my hands in and all the bulbs have come out their little sockets some wires are scotch locked in and it's a hell of a mess .Does anyone have a simple wiring diagram that I could follow to enable me to put it all back together
  12. Yours is the same set up as mine and there is not a lot of room for a spacer at all because a rather thick washer goes on before the nut !!
