  1. @bigfella70, ads go on www.lotusforsale.com please, it's free! Thanks
  2. That’s good to know Fabian, thanks. I’m sincerely hoping the show goes ahead this year. Will definitely pop along for a look and chat!
  3. I rather fancied this Esprit and did make an enquiry. However already sold. Not sure whether is gone privately or in the trade but certainly looked a good starting point for a recommissioning project !
  4. Brilliant news on completing those trouble free miles. Video is great, looks a lot of fun. Cars are all looking and sounding fantastic!
  5. Great to see your progress on this Jon. Enjoyed the Delorean documtary that you mentioned, thanks for the heads up on that !
  6. Great to see your initial work progressing on the project, Jonathan. Thanks for sharing!
  7. Great thread, thanks for sharing! Really excellent progress getting the car tested and back on the road. Hope all is going well and you're managing to get some drives in despite the covid situation that's prevailed this year.
  8. Looking great Neil, hope you manage to locate a sunroof panel soon!
  9. Looking very clean Neil, you've done an amazing job there. Any issues found with the engine that required attention?
  10. Great to see this car being resurrected! Saw the advert and very tempted by this car however being realistic it was beyond my capabilities and garage space to take on such a project. Really pleased to see the car in good hands and look forward to seeing progress on it. Please let me know if you decide to part with it once she's on the road !!!
  11. Looks stunning. Just read the thread from beginning and very impressed. The S1 will certainly look the part in Paris!
  12. Agree with that Chris, very strange! I suspect that may have been nothing wrong with the car at the time of MOT expiry, just that the owner had other car/s that he then focussed attention on and the Esprit was just left sat there.
  13. Interesting! It does seem a real shame to have left the car just standing since the last MOT in 2013 outside and open to the elements.
  14. Thanks Pete, the spec is perfect for me along with interior / exterior colour. Only snag for me is the level of work required to get the car up and running again. Anyone know of the car or been to view ?
  15. Hi Jon Dont know the car and putting the number into DVLA website doesn't bring back any record. Could have been transferred onto another car. Do you know the original reg number as it may have been returned to that and could show on DVLA? Further to that, putting LTS 383 through google suggests that the number was auctioned in 2016 in Knaresborough hence may be on renention. Worth trying a post on social media -Lotus Esprit pages as that would get a fairly wide viewing and someone may know. Do you have any details of the purchaser you could try and recontact for details? On another note do you still have an Esprit? I'm based in North Leeds and currently scanning the market for an S3 but interested in chatting to owners etc. All the best with your search. Regards. Dave.
  16. Thanks David, I've seen there are quite a few S3 Turbo / NA cars on the market with dealers in the South however prices seem 'ambitious' and not too much movement. I will keep scanning the market including forthcoming auctions etc. Nice part of the world where you are, do you know of any Lotus meets in the area at all as I'd love to have a look at Esprits and chat to owners for hints and tips etc. Cheers. Dave.
  17. Thanks Si, I'm basically looking towards a running, MOT'd and driving car in overall good condition, requiring some improvement and the usual maintenance rather than a project requiring restoration. I'd like to acquire a car I can drive and enjoy primarily. Im open minded on NA / Turbo although I do love the overall look and appeal of the Turbo cars. Ideally I'd like to acquire a car from a fellow enthusiast where I can learn first hand about the history and ownership rather than go through a dealer. ive narrowed down to an S3 but will keep open minded re the year. In terms of budget I am looking at 15-20k with some flexibility for the right car..... Not an immediate rush as I m involved in a building project currently which is taking most of my time however I am keeping an eye on the market over Autumn / Winter. Cheers. Dave
  18. Thanks Steve, I'm based in North Leeds but prepared to travel within reason, Huddersfield is not far away so would be a good option.
  19. Brett, that looks absolutely stunning! Excellent work and a great achievement getting rid of the old redundant wiring also!!
  20. Afternoon all, just wondering if there is a recommended definitive buyers guide for the G car Esprit (my interest is in the S3). Google and searching on the forum produce lots of articles / guides over the years however just wondering if there is a recent guide / checklist to assist as I am keeping my eyes peeled for a suitable series 3 NA or Turbo version. Also in the Yorkshire area, are there any recommendations for an independent garage / specialist on these cars. I would like to do some maintenance myself but would always like to identify somewhere for support on any jobs I didn't have the capacity to tackle myself ! Cheers. Dave.
  21. Spotted your V8 Esprit when advertised Mike at it does look stunning. Will you look for another Esprit at some stage do you think? im now just tentatively keeping my eye on the market with a view to a usable S3 NA or Turbo. Marcos sounds good, always liked them !!
  22. Just read through the thread from page one over a few days. Firstly upmost respect for your skills and persistence with this project. An amazing standard of restoration and commitment to detail. This (and your FYEO Esprit Turbo thread) are really interesting for myself as an aspiring G car (probably S3) owner. Still doing the homework and scanning the market but these type of threads are invaluable to see what makes these cars tick ! Thanks for sharing and hopefully see your cars at the NEC!
  23. Thanks for all the pointers and advice gents. I'm leaning more towards a series 3 Giugiaro car than a Stevens. In terms of level of work required ideally I'm looking toward a running, driving and MOT'd car rather than a non runner off the road car than can't be driven / tested. I've seen recently a couple of series 3 requiring work sell for 10k and another with MOT for just under 10k so I figured allow 15k for something a little more together. I have to also allow some flexibility into my budget if a good car came along that was worth spending an extra couple of k on that would benefit in the long run. Also wondered if any members in the Yorkshire area with a Giugiaro car going to any meets etc that wouldn't mind showing me their car as a learning exercise on what to look for / familiarisation etc...
  24. Thanks Simon that's good to know. I do like the look of the turbo but could live without the additional performance (and complexity)! Stephen, hi there yes I sold my 3500 manual SD1 about two and a half years ago and still visit the club forum from time to time. I did consider a Vitesse but to be realistic I would like something different and would love an Esprit. I remember your post re the superb Esprit you sourced after moving on from your Vitesse!
