  1. Went out for a blast today, 150 miles of Scotland's finest roads to remind me what a clever smug chap I am for buying an evora. Got home, clouds came so thought would give her a good clean. Took my son out for a pizza and came back to the car and drivers window fully open. Strange. Headed off to cinema and drivers window just opened as we were driving. Parked up, bought tickets and popcorn and sent son to check the car. Drivers window open again. Stranger. Closed her all up and just stood looking at her glorious curves. Drivers window then just wound itself down. All on its own. Bloody strange! Got in, window switch not working so drove home. Got window to close whilst drivibg then just before home it just opened again. Freakin strange now. Anyone got any ideas / experience?
  2. Total respect Gav that is one truly beautiful car, the colour combo's are superb. I'm sure the wait will be worth it and I hope you enjoy every second of ownership. I'm taking ,my little NA baby for a spin up through Blairgowrie, Spittal of Glenshee, Braemar and Ballater for lunch today - then will do it all again in reverse to come home, for no other reason than I can A wonderful road and route just made for the Evora....
  3. A bit late to the topic but only just seen the pictures - this car is just stunning in Blue and Cognac - truly bowled over... I was looking at getting my Ardent Red with Black/Charcoal interior re-trimmed, and to be honest, this Cognac would look the business.....
  4. Sounds like a smashing route Ken but if we could do it a little earlier than November, say early October, I would suggest it would be stunning with all the trees changing their colours. Just a thought. Cheers
  5. Brian Swankie - wow, now there's a name from the past as around 10 - 12 years ago I contracted Brian who made me some very nice new Scottish Oak stairs for my house! I did not realise he was into the Lotus too so I might have to give him a shout. Would love to join you all tomorrow but out with SWMBO at an event tonight and with the new drink drive laws up here I don't want to risk being over the limit! Hopefully the knee thing is temporary and will heal OK. Brandon had a nice Evora in the other day with the Paprika interior and tech / premium packs etc - looked a stunner too.... Go on, you know you want to...
  6. Ha John, that'll be me then but please don't tell anyone I live in Perth, I live in PerthSHIRE! You missed out on a beauty there, but hey, your dither was my gain! She has a nice new Alpine W987D sat nav and rear camera now thanks to Greig and the team at CRS on the Crief Road in Perth. Now, as soon as Lotus can get off their backsides and get the cruise control kits into dealers and off back order then MMC can fit that and to be honest, no more mods until the end of the summer when I am planning to take her down to Dave-The-Trimmer for some nice upholstery work. I did try a local firm in Livingston called Transcal for the upholstery but their customer service has been nothing sort of atrocious so an 800 mile round trip to Milton Keynes it will be then at the end of the summer. The one main downside is that I have torn a load of stuff in my left knee so getting in and out of the Evora and using the clutch is, right now, a bloody painful and undignified experience !
  7. Yes, like many a politician she loves a good spanking from time to time ...... hahaha! She's in for a treat today though as a whole new satnav/entertainment system is being fitted.
  8. Woke up, threw back the bedroom curtains and there was my Evora, sat patiently waiting and expectingly for me to pay her some attention! That made me happy. Turned round to see the wife, so decided to go downstairs and make a pot of tea!
  9. Logged on this morning and all worked fine Bibs - obviously just needed to synchronise new login or something. Thanks for the offer of help, very much appreciated, but all sorted now and another glowing reference for MMC and Brandon is on the system.

    Hello

Ah Kimbers, I didn't have a Lotus then, only picked it up on the Friday when I got back in the country for a business trip. Maybe after living up here for 20 years I have picked up a few of the local habits though! Al - I cannot agree more re the Avg. Speed Camera's between Perth and Dunblane - what on earth where they thinking of? I can understand between Perth and Pitlochry and then Inverness - absolutely as that stretch of road is literally a killer as people have continuously done stupid things and caused massive accidents and deaths for years. But the bit between Perth and Dunblane is all grade 1 fully upgraded Dual Carriageway with hardly a twist in it. I find it much more dangerous now as cars, lorries and mega/inter-city buses all just end up coming together in a big convoy with everyone roughly at the same speed, no-one able to overtake, and everyone's frustration levels rising with the cars wanting to join on the road at junctions having to wait a while whilst the long convoys go past. It is just plain bonkers, a complete lesson in bureaucracy gone mad, a waste of public funds and I would love to meet the person responsible for this ludicrous scheme to give them a firm piece of my mind! Not that I feel that passionate about it, of course.
  11. OK, so this is getting infuriating now! Set myself as a user on the review software. Login and it even says "Howdy Corks" in the top right corner - so I know I am in. Go to Murray lotus on the right hand side and click on "add your review" and then get told to login again. Login again and no where to put in the review as back to home page with "Howdy Corks" again top right. Go through this crazy process 5 times, lose my rage and almost throw the PC through the window. No idea what I am doing wrong but would really appreciate some pointers here

    Hello

It's the enjoyment levy that gets me. Don't forget there is a £40 per day "enjoyment" tax levied on every English plated car that crosses the border at Gretna. They even have the NPR cameras on the road bridge there.... Best stay in the Lake District chaps, we'll let you know when the roads are clear enough to make it worth your while...
  13. Basalte so the BBC is not all left wing muesli munchers. Ok, I'll buy that. So does that mean that not all Tories are nest mates with Bankers, Millionaire CEO's and Oxbridge educated Sons and daughters of priviledge? So shall we all dispense with the gross generalisations now? I agree with the last debate comments though and generally find the audience for Question Time, based on the questions chosen from them, are left biased. As for Andrew Neil - ok he may be right focused but when he asks his questions of Labour, SNP, UKIP, Lib Dem AND Tories he certainly gets them all in knots....
  14. Ah Ok. It confused me as it said the userid was taken when I tried to register. No worries will try again from a pc and not the phone. thanks for the quick response.
  15. OK, so I am obviously logged and recognised by the forum as I'm typing this in. So why, when I try to put a review in for my dealer MMC, when it asks me to login is it saying my userid, c8rkh, is invalid? Help please..... Thanks in advance
  16. Hoss, don't feel bad just remember cows do more environmental damage in the UK than cars. Just enjoy it sounds like a great place to own a great car
  17. Basalte, we are of course all entitled to our opinions and in this so-called Democracy that we have this is a principle that must be upheld. Though you did lose me with this quote - "Through our wonderful investigative impartial mass media (71% of which is billionaire-owned and will therefore be supporting the Tories)". In my opinion this is just not true and I would say that the political sway of all the mainstream press is actually "labour" biased in general and not Tory. But then, that is my opinion. And let's not forget that the BBC does have a significant Leftist/Socialist bias in its reporting which more than makes up for the impact of a small number of right wing newspapers. What does get me though is the implication that i you vote Tory your a Toff/Billionaire and if you vote Labour you're a worker. I think this is where it has all gone wrong for me as I actually see the Conservatives/UKIP as being more in touch with me as a worker (I work for a company as an employee, I do not have my own company etc) than Labour. To me, Labour is the party of the public sector, be they public sector employees or people on unemployment benefits. I do not include those with long term chronic illnesses, mental illnesses or physical disabilities in this group, these are people who rely on welfare payments to have a semblance of a normal life and we should feel obligated as a nation to support these people. The other people on welfare benefits, I feel less sympathy for. We could afford to have a comfortable life with 2 kids, so we had 2 kids. 3 would have been a struggle and 4 financially impossible. So I just do not understand the view that people who have more kids than they can afford to support should be looked after by my taxes. To me, that is utter rollocks, is total hypocrisy and shows that "these" people have nothing but utter contempt for the rest of the hard working tax paying population if they truly believe they should be supported to have more kids than they can afford to look after themselves. Again, it has been said earlier, but we really do need to move away from this entitlement culture. You want stuff, you go out and find work and earn the money to pay for it. No work in your area, then move to areas where there are work. I've had to do that several times and despite being from Liverpool my first job was in Manchester, my second in Leeds, my third in Rochdale, my fourth in London and my fifth in Perth Scotland! The working class used to be very proud, worked hard, played hard and expected no charity. Sadly, we have created a whole generation who believe that just because they were born they are entitled. This is what we need to fix and I would trust the Tories more to fix it, and to get back people back to work by backing workers, than Labour, who will just tax workers more to give more way to those who don't. As for the NHS, all parties spout nonsense. The SNP have presided over a net decrease in NHS spending over the past 5 years. Labour introduced a series of privatisation schemes, including PFI, that was a disaster for the NHS and in the past 5 years, whether we like to admit it or not, the Tories have actually increased net spending on the NHS. So who do we believe when we listen to the rhetoric on the TV? Maybe just as we have seen the rise of the SNP in last 7 years, we will see in England the rise of UKIP - they are young and naive party yet if you read their manifesto it actually comes across as a well thought out approach to growth and fairness, obviously if you look beyond the biased left wing press and BBC view that seems to want to portray them as just racist fascists. Again, all of this is in my humble opinion and I am by no means an informed expert, more an interested observer
  18. Scotland is under 10% of the UK population. Of those in Scotland who could vote (and that included 16 and 17 year old's who cannot vote in the election next month), some 45% of the voters, or 37% of the Scottish population (or 3.7% in UK population terms) actively voted for Independence for Scotland in the referendum. So the real figure in terms of UK population who back the SNP is probably around 3%. And now, we have the leader of the party that represents the views of 3% of the UK acting as Kingmaker. I think the revolution may have started but I do hope that the masses rise up and put it firmly down and in its place. If Scots really want independence, and this is backed by a majority vote, then we should concede with grace and let it happen. After 21 years living and supporting and paying taxes in Scotland, if Nicola thinks that I am now ready to see her take even money from me to pay for her "progressive" politics then she needs a kick up the backside. I fear that a house will soon be on the market in Perthshire. Why should I pay more in tax, to live in Scotland, and earn less than my peers in the same company pay to live in England? Why should my UK pension be ceded to the SNP in Scotland? I should have the choice as to what happens to my pension. Surely personal choice is what progressive policy is all about???? I fear the United Kingdom is already lost and given the choice, then I believe the best thing I can do is to up sticks and move to England, as I do not want to be a "foreigner" in another country, which would be the case when Scotland finally gains its independence. Indeed, during the referendum it was made clear to me on many occasions that I was not welcome - I guess that's progress......
  19. Do you know what really winds me up is the way that the Left and SNP always hark back to Thatcher - holy moley that was over 30 years ago and what exactly have they done since then to turn things around? You cannot blame one woman, and one party, and the actions they took 30 years ago for all todays ills. If that was the case then we'll be blaming Labour for the fiasco of their 12 years in power for another 25 years!!!!! Yes, Thatcher's last term was awful - so was Blair's and Labours - in fact, most 3rd terms have been awful despite the party in power. So, when Cameron says he has lerned from the past, and publicly says with conviction if you vote me in I will ONLY stay for this term then go, he should be applauded. But oh no, the left and the BBC then slam him for it - he was only using his common sense.... Yes Thatcher did some daft things - but then what about the good? She got Britain back working. She was literaly responsible for almost a million people getting on the housing ladder - many of those who fiercely slag her off where (1) not even born when she was in power and (2) are going to be the first generation of their families to actually inherit a property from their parents - I know I will be and I will raise a glass of Champers to Maggie to say thank you. You are right, the so called hard right, the fascists and scum and whatever the left wants to call them are in reality just too nice, too polite and too decent. Every one of the Labour front bench team, especially those bloody awful women (Harmen and the like) just shout and scream at the opposition - you see them on Question time and they are like rabid dogs with the scent of blood in their noses - they never let anyone finish etc. Sturgeon is just the same, with her snear and wagging finger. Maybe it's time to toughen up the Tories and send them to some sort of anarchist boot camp.....
  20. Oh Kimbers, bless your cotton socks me old mucker. Do you not realise that the SNP are all about "Progressive" politics? How can something that is progressive be bad? Progressive implies, well, progress and "....ives" and well progress and "ives" is good isn't it? Certainly sounds good but I don't think the SNP or Sturgeon have actually outlined what progressive really is. You know, in words of one syllable so those simple folk like us, you know, the voters, actually understand. In other words, the SNP are just better at playing the game than UKIP, though they have had 50 years longer in playing it so they should be better. It's the same reason that the Tories get blamed for the creeping privatisation of the NHS (hmmm, think Labour and PFI here); that they get blamed for having friends who are bankers (hmmmm, think it was LAbour who dismantled all the controls prior to the 2008 crash); and why they get blamed for austerity even though it has provided the fastest growing economy in the developed world and taken the employment figures to the highest they've been for decades - Like UKIP, the Tories are actually pretty bad at the PR machine whereas Labour et al, the loony left if you like, actually are pretty good at it.
  21. Opening my front door and seeing my lovely new Ardent Red Evora (new to me), then putting my case in the back and then driving off to airport.

    Hello

Al - it was better than my wildest and wettest of dreams! I know I'm biased, having just sunk my hard earned wod into one, but blimey, this Evora is one hell of a car. To be honest, I was starting to worry I'd made a mistake reading some of the posts on the various forums with everyone having issues with everything ranging from headlamps to door handles. Well, all I can say is that after a long weekend and 500 miles I am one of the luckiest men on gods earth and what a great decision I made in buying the Evora and in using MMC - both are just wonderful. When I picked her up on Friday she looked stunning and MMC had done a great job getting her ready. The drive home was immense as I got to know her and as I was driving slowly up the M90 over the Forth Bridge and towards Halbeith I was genuinely in awe of just how well put together she is. After all, she is a 5 year old car, but no squeaks or rattles, superbly comfortable seats and suspension and surprisingly easy and gentle to drive. Came off the M90 and went cross country and on some shocking roads in Fife she just glided over the holes and bumps and the smile on my face just got wider and wider. The decat and Lotus Sports Exhaust, with the Close Ratio gearbox, just seem to fit so well with the car. I don't miss not having the Tech or Premium packs and find the trim even better than I remembered from my test drive etc - just a bit sombre all being charcoal but I'll use that as an excuse for a bit of re-trim over the winter. Not sure for UK roads I need the "S" and it's extra power - the NA is plenty fast enough for me and I'm sure I'll not be left wanting on the track either. I know, more power is always good, I understand, just not sure how you would ever exploit it/benefit from it in the UK other than for pure track use. My car is so well put together, so obviously well sorted (only done 15k miles in it's 5 years), and the Ardent Red just fits it superbly. I've been asked "Mister is that a Ferrari" and "Mister is that a Lamborghini" already, and when driving through Perth go shouted at by 3 young lads - "whoa, look at that, stunning, well sick" - and got three big smiles and thumbs up. As I've said on another post - ownership highlight though was being stopped at a red light, black Porky 911 comes up behind me and bloke has his young kid in the front seat (probably 9-12 yo) - the young kid is straining in his seat to the back end of the Evora, big smiles, wide eyes and lots of finger pointing. Confirmed my decision to buy an Evora was right, right there and then... Michael - no idea what Soccer is, but also, no idea what football is either having lived up here for 20 years - but then I am also a long suffering Liverpool fan too....
  23. So, having had an Evora for 3 days in total, I can say that I have really put my foot down each day I have owned it! Both in sport mode and normal. What a phenomenal machine the Evora is and I doubt I will ever have the ability to find its limits on a road because (1) I am not that good a driver (2) I'm not that brave - and you would have to be doing something really stupid, at really stupid speeds, on non-appropriate roads to reach this cars limits. On a track, well, that's a different story of course. Interestingly I've seen on the forum a few comments re the noise and how it is not "good enough" - well, my car has a decat pipe and the Lotus Sports exhaust box (titanium blue tipped) and boy does it sound awesome. Below 3,000 rpm it's like a pussy-cat, as you build to 4,000 then push beyond it's a howling banshee - god I love this car and it certainly has more than enough noise for me! Rumbling through a village at 25mph in 2nd with the windows open you really hear the bubbling, gurgling and farting, it is just as intoxicating as the wail as she she opens up at 4,000 rpm+ I know I only have the NA, but can't see me wanting much more power than this, as the engine is so good with the Close Ratio gearbox. Highlight of my ownership experience was pulling up at a set of lights, looking through my rear mirror over the engine cover to see a black Pork 911 pull up behind me, it might have been a new Beetle, but sure it was the 911 but they all look the same to me The poor bloke had to endure his son in the front seat - probably 9-12 yo, lifting himself up in his seat to check out the Evora and pointing wildly with a big grin at the back of it. Made my day! Even put 7 old tins of paint in the boot on Sunday to take them to the tip - just for an excuse to get out in it again and it turned into a 50 mile round trip Wife thinks I'm nuts, but then, I'm sure she would rather see me driving my Evora than a blond half my, and more importantly her, age ! hahaha - long may this affair with my Evora last. I'm so glad I've lived long enough to have a mid-life crisis, the good news is that I should have about another 30 years to enjoy it....
  24. Watched some of the debate last night with the 5 "leaders" - first observation was that I wouldn't want to meet Sturgeon down a dark alley on a Friday night, think she would kick th s**t out of me. Thought she came across as an angry, barking, bitter and dare I say it resentful person, but as I don't her personally I could of course be miles off the true mark. Thought it interesting that neither Farage nor Milibland took the opportunity to "SET-UP" Mrs Wales and Mrs Scotland. " So Leanne, I hear you, you believe the people in Wales deserve a higher subsidy than they raise in taxes just like Scotland. OK, fair points. I have no extra money to give you, without cutting spending in other areas for the English based tax payers, so have you asked Nicola how much of her budget she is willing to forego or release to allow me to re-distribute funding to Wales and to give you this increase? Or, are you both just expecting the English tax payer to accept a lower return on their taxes to subsidise Wales?....... Oh the latter is it, you expect English tax payers to just accept a lower return and lower level of service and pay for everything while you join Scotland in handing out free prescriptions, free personal care for the elderley etc.. OK, thanks for making that point clear to me and the MAJORITY of the voters in the UK" I would have thought that would have made the point for Milibland that a vote for anyone but Labour was a vote for the Conservatives and would have provided more mileage to Farage and his masters of our own destiny approach. What have I missed here? I also take exception to their constant harping out on about the rich, or better off middle class. I'm from a very socialist background (Liverpool, North West England, Council houses, parents in unskilled jobs, comprehensive education and no university) but through sheer hardwork I have managed to stay in employment for 32 years and paid all taxes due every year. I now earn a good whack, now have a middle class lifestyle and children who have had a privileged upbringing though still state educated. All I hear from the Greens, PCymru, SNP and Labour brigade is that as a result of working my butt off, sacrificing my family life and time with my kids to be successful and standalone, I am now nothing more than a cash cow to be plundered to pay for others, many of whom who have taken a positive decision not to better themselves through work etc, I've been married for 21 years, my wife gave up her job to look after the kids (parental responsibility or not?) and I was the sole bread winner so driven to work and succeed, just like many many other people in the UK. We could not afford expensive holidays or nice cars or big LCD TV's but we got by and became self sufficient. Then, we lost the married persons tax break. Then I got to pay more tax as my earnings rose. Then my private sector pensions were utterly destroyed by a reckless, I think feckless act, by a Labour Chancellor. Then as a result of socialist miss-management of the financial sector I had to endure austerity. Then, I was told that I couldn't have child allowance for my two kids, and the list goes on. Well, all these politically correct lefties, my challenge to you is stop milking the same old cow, because eventually, you will kill it, and then where will you get your milk from? I lived the Labour dream:- working class boy with a social conscious, aspirations and did good. Only to then realise that the system that created me, then despised me for being entrepreneurial and successful. If you want to know what is wrong with this country, there it is, right there! The prospect of Labour, SNP, PC and Green coalition scares me senseless and there is just no way Milibland is equipped or adept enough to manage those three women and their demands. We'll be bankrupted within the 5 years, in my humble opinion. The only thing last nights debate did for me, was to confirm that for the first time in my life I will be voting Conservative as the other option is just too scary to contemplate. Friday morning rant over, it's almost time for a G&T (or should that be a pint of bitter!)

    Hello

So today is the day I pick up my "Little Red Ride". Currently sat in Heathrow airport, waiting for my plane back to Edinburgh and then it's a quick taxi ride to MMC and she will be all mine! Gonna call her Scarlet, after the actress whose lips were the colour of the car! (those of you under 30 will have no idea who I mean!) Never been this excited before coming back from a business trip and to top it off, the weather looks fantastic. My usual 55 mile commute north from the airport will, I believe, turn into a 100-150 mile jaunt through Fife and Tayside, probably the most indirect route possible! The last couple of weeks have been eventful, helping to build the excitement as I researched websites, found the Lotus Forums, became a full site member, used the services from partners such as AIB to get insurance and generally learnt just how much Evora owners love their cars. Got some good hints and tips from here, and the "folding mirrors" switch was secured a few weeks ago from ebay and is waiting to be fitted tonight - though that may have to wait as it may be very dark when I eventually get home! From reading the reviews and comments, I am sure that Brandon and the team at MMC will have the car looking and running great, so all that remains is for me to make the quick hop back to Edinburgh and then enjoy the long drive home passing some wonderful places like Knockhill, Leven, Auchtermuchty, Coupar, St. Andrews (maybe we'll share an ice cream on the beach!), Cupar, Newburgh, Bridge of Earn, Perth, Scone Palace and maybe even as far north as Blairgowrie - although one wrong turn here (oooppps) could see me heading up over the mountains to Glenshee and Braemar - hmmm, sounds tempting....
