  1. Quick question. Before I install the header rail I need to run the appropriate wiring to the clock. This then leads me back to the location of the loom under the dash and how it routes to the pillar. When I disassembled my car, the loom sat under the steering column. Logically it would be better to sit it on top of the column. Can anyone shed some light as to where it should sit? thank you.
  2. Back to the interior. Im looking for some guidance as to how does the upper half of the interior go back together. Is this the right sequence: 1/ roof lining 2/roof side rails 3/header rail with clock etc. 4/ A pillar panels that run from the roof to the dash (with fabric piping strip) 5/ Dash 6/ Windscreen 7/ Fire wall fabric panel 8/ carpet etc. My next question. How does one affix the header rail (houses the clock). Does the fabric wrap around the piece of timber and then screwed to the windscreen surround. Beveled edge faces forward towards the front of the car? Followed by the header rail that has 4 screws. I’m confused…
  3. Yes they are. Accompanied by a spring washer. Good luck with it.
  4. I used my original door handles to fit the door when the body was done. Now I’ve swapped in a new set. Added a new barrel and moved a portion of the mechanism across. Will require some adjustment once the door is re-mounted..
  5. Sorry for all the posts. The fabric section around the clock looks tricky. Any tips on how to create the curve for the proud corners. Looks like the fabric is formed. Any tips?
  6. Quick question. I’ve heard numerous people mention the use of scrim foam on the interior. There doesn’t really appear to be any scrim foam on my original interior apart from an ultra thin backing on the original Marcasite material. Is that right? 🙏🏼
  7. Rivet is done. Required a delicate tap. I've selected the fabric. I’m still trying to work out how much is required. Dash, A pillars, binnacle, door cards. Does anyone have a guesstimate? Thanks
  8. Thanks. My teeth are fine. Just need to tighten the pin. C2 is a good tip though
  9. Speaking of doors…. This door regulator pin has wiggles. Not in an eliptical way. Up and down. Drivers side only. Are they NLA? Any suggestions as to how to remove the play. Do I tap the rivet on the rear? I’ve given it a light tap and it’s made no difference.
  10. Thanks, lads. David - thanks for the tip. Keen to keep it as close to authentic as possible. The mouse fur looks like the pile is too high. I will stick with the Alcantara dark grey at this stage. Just need to understand the backing situation. I'll wait until @drdoom bedazzles us 😲with pics of his new interior before I make the purchase. Might work on the door mechanisms while I wait.
  11. Hello everyone, Alcantara comes in both backed and a non-backed version. Should I use backed for the dash and non-backed for the binnacle? The corners look awfully tight. What do you all think?
  12. May I ask, what was the colour code and where did you source? Thanks
  13. @Fridge i think I’ll need to keep it as per delivery certificate. I’ve gone this far keeping things original - i might as well see it through.
  14. A pillar does look good thanks Steve. David that’s a great pic of the interior for that 2.2. If ii stick to my proposed scheme the roof will be light grey. I am doing my best to keep things original so it looks like drab it is 😔
  15. The interior is proving to be a bit of a head-scratcher. I'm trying to land on a fabric source & colour scheme. Few comments: the correct scheme is fairly drab. The delivery certificate states the interior was Gunmetal Marcasite. This has faded to a lovely bottle green which I love. Shame. What are your thoughts? I have narrowed the fabric source and colour scheme to the following: Alcantara Style Slate Grey - foam backed (ASG) Black Vinyl (BV) Ribbed mid-grey roof lining (from S&J Sportscars) (GR) I have marked up a summary of the parts that need to be recovered. Attached as a pdf Any feedback? Lotus interior.pdf
  16. Lotusfab: The three nut metal plate in the picture holds the internal door handle on. the screws that hold it on are UNF PanPozi Philips head 3/16 inch 3/4 length
  17. Thanks for the replies. Looks like Black Caviar Alcantara is the best match despite it being difficult to massage around corners. There is this option but it’s difficult to assess with the provided information. Go to the last two pics. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126286859746?mkcid=16&;mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=o2c7BqSzSl-&sssrc=2047675&ssuid=o2c7BqSzSl-&widget_ver=artemis&media Onwards and upwards.
  18. All of the leather is in excellent condition and will be refurbished for that heritage flavour. I’ve had a look around and Grey Alcantara looks like a close match. Things followed by Crypton Suede. Does the original fabric have any backing (I don’t have access to my interior - it’s coming out of storage next week).
  19. from Steve: “Good morning, We did have a supplier in the USA for something very similar to Marcasite, but they have stopped making it. “ I’m in the same quandary as I was a couple of years ago. Cannot source a suitable covering. does anyone else have recommendation please?
  20. Hello everyone, I’ve been in the weeds for the last couple of years distracted with other things. Need to get this interior done. I have a couple of questions. 1/ my head lining has a stitching running it’s length. Is that original? 2/ I’ve completed a few interiors myself and I’m going to have a try at installing mine myself. I haven’t been able to source the correct fabric for the interior. Has there been an update to the preferred supplier for the Alcantara? Mine appears to be bottle green/ almost dark grey. How do I determine what is the correct factory colour code? thanks
  21. Thanks. After 7 years (of joy) the body is finally reunited with its chassis. Looks like it’s sitting a little low …. Lol.
  22. I ended up going with the solid pipe. It was hard to find the olives for the ends but that is now resolved. Body will be reunited with the chassis tomorrow. Can’t wait. Are you sure it’s 44? (S2). Appears to be significantly larger than that size. I’ll go with your advice if you are confident. Thanks
  23. That would be great if you could. Thank you. I intend to cut the socket in half and weld on some tube so it’s an extra deep socket. Is that how you would do it?
