  1. Could change the pump away from a ramp ?
  2. Got the fuel pipes made up and in place , with the new pump. I've got to get the handbrake cables sorted ( shortened ) and then tidy up all the pipe runs . Then it is "fluids in " .
  3. I tried hard to get the gold fabric and failed. I've had to do the armrest in leather as one possible source of the material wanted a small sample and took it from the visible area ....
  4. Drdoom I like Alcantara but it is difficult to work with I understand . On my car the a-post trim are leather as per the dash so makes sense to do yours the same as you dash - then all the roof /cantrail etc all the same colour
  5. I gave up on the alcantara headlining and have gone with the original material .
  6. Staying in Escrick , just south of York
  7. David I'm hoping the Canbus " tuning " has all been done by Lotusbits . They've used the system on a couple of Esprits now . Didn't know about the red braiding , makes sense . I'm actually up in Yorkshire for the next 3 days - different car club with a few visits planned .
  8. Canbus is used all the time on older vehicles - watch some of the videos on youtube from Retropower for example . The Canbus doesn't run the ignition - that is a DTA ECU . The Canbus shouldn't need any " tuning " I may go for Jenvey heritage throttle bodies at some stage . At the moment , getting some fuel to the carbs and getting it running will suffice . I'm not hung up on originality for the sake of it . For example , there was an Esprit chassis at the recent Restoration show at the NEC . It had the red clutch fluid pipe - isn't that a known weakness and even if it isn't , why wouldn't you replace it with a braided hose anyway ?
  9. Canbus gets rid of relays and fuses I understand . You can also program things like intermittent wipers or headlight delay . It is robust and keeps areas looking less cluttered with no relays etc . I have electronic ignition , which has its own ecu . I didn't go for throttle bodies, maybe I should have ? Deleting the distributor I think is a good idea . Not sure if the comment about advice is aimed at me - I know what I know and when to involve experts , which is why I didn't wire the car myself ....
  10. The canbus is for the whole car . It is running carbs .
  11. Thanks . I’ve no idea what the switch sees , so that’s good to know . No need for relays on mine , all done by smoke and mirrors , or indeed Canbus 😂. What could possibly go wrong . When you passing Worcs ? You owe me a visit 👍🏻
  12. Jon I've replaced the fog light switch with another to work the ignition .Looks standard . Not sure how the switch would cope with full amps that the ignition switch may or may not see .
  13. Good to see the series started again . In the early days of my restoration the videos were good reference points / help to understanding how things worked etc .You've a bit of catching up to do now thou . Good luck
  14. I watched a recent you tube video of someone driving an Esprit and on 2 occasions the inertia switch killed the engine ...
  15. Purists look away now. As the car will have no steering lock/key , I've integrated the starter button into the choke/electric window element of the interior . The choke has been deleted anyway so the button is hidden by the choke lever - push it up and the starter can be accessed. The ignition 1-2 is done via one of the dash switches . The alarm remote button wakes everything up and allows 1-2 , start. Not finished , but shows the intent. Think I'm onto the fuel lines tomorrow but likely have to make a bracket up for the Holley pump ... The headlining is ordered - when that comes in it will be front and rear screens in , headlining in , geo and .... press the button .
