  1. I could email you the file i have for the service manual?
  2. An Esprit is certainly a baptism of fire into Lotus ownership! Sounds like the voltage regulators gone
  3. that looks quite different from my LC Esprit isnt it the water pump return from the radiator? Theres alot more pipes in the way than mine. HCI? Also your cambelt looks a long way forward on the pulleys there?
  4. If the hose is split which it may have if rubbed on the cam belt/pulley you will need this: https://www.sjsportscars.com/parts-and-accessories/SJ082K0030.htm The rest is just a jubilee clip at each end its tight to get your hand down the top to connect to the pump spigot but quite doable. Bottom is easy enough just make sure its aligned do it clears the belts and pulleys as its all very close down there.
  5. Can be done from above and below fairly strait forward. https://www.rdent.com/manuals/esprit/engine/ed.htm this will give you an idea not exactly the same but it will be number 11 which on your car will be a bendy hose that goes around everything
  6. Anyone got a template for the Left hand engine mount heat shield?
  7. Ok ill do that if it burns off no harm i guess.
  8. That’s not the problem it was the shaft that was stuck but no wear in it
  9. I was thinking of using copper slip grease as that’s good up to 1100c otherwise engine oil. its never had anything round the chassis rails? What’s recommended? Reflective foil tape do the job? Or maybe exhaust wrap?
  10. Anyone? Going to reassemble and refit to car at weekend.
  11. Right I’ve taken the waste gate assembly off (was surprisingly easy!) the valve stem was stuck solid so bit of ac90 and it’s running smooth now. Cleaned and inspected the diaphragm and is in good condition, so my only question before reassembly and refit - should the valve stem be lubricated with anything? There seemed to be a very small amount of black oil in it?
  12. Looks very nice but not holy grail thats reserved for the Essex surely? Also i dont really like the two tone paint or interior personally.
  13. When I was last out in my Turbo Esprit I noticed that on full acceleration the boost kicks in as expected and then theres a sound of a massive release of pressure and stabilisation of the boost pressure (this is before lifting to change gear). Does this sound like a stuck waste gate and the manifold release valve blowing off? If so what parts do i need? Im thinking wastegate diaphragm/some sort of service kit?
  14. I painted all the suspension arms on mine when they were off but resisted painting the chassis as i couldn't get to alot of it and wanted to do it all or nothing
  15. Thanks that’s good to know, have ordered that one from classic additions
  16. What about this - https://www.classicadditions.com/en-GB/lotus-esprit-soft-indoor-car-cover/vmd_10071-167924
  17. Thinking about getting an indoor car cover for my Esprit as I can’t see it going anywhere for a while It’s kept in a dry draft free garage with no windows so It’s really to keep dust off and I’m wondering what recommendations people have? I’m not looking to spend silly money on this and wonder if no cover is better than the cheaper ones £100 max
  18. You wont need to remove the oil pump to change that just the filter and sandwich plate
  19. Sounds like you might want to replace the throttle cable as if its stretched that much it may break now you've adjusted it. Very cheap and easy to do.
  20. Mine did this till i near perfected the balence of the carbs. I take it you done this already?
  21. That thermostat looks exactly like a wax capsule diverter valve from some old gas boilers!
  22. I used this one and it reads accurately. Mine just undid but it had been replaced within the last few years. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-LOTUS-ELITE-ESPRIT-ECLAT-TEMPERATURE-TRANSMITTER/401750677385?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
  23. Oh damn! Sorry to hear about this Fabian! After all the meticulous work you've put into that engine. Sounds like it could have been worst though. Hope you manage to get this sorted without too much bother.
  24. A bunch of us will be there with our esprits from early
  25. Plugs out and holes covered with a cloth, fuel pump and ignition off and turn over on the starter to get some oil circulation/pressure would be a good starting point id think. Maybe a drop of oil down each plug hole.
