  1. @johnpwalsh how much would you want for it?
  2. I expect it will be a few hundred just want to get it done ASAP as it’s currently stuck in a workshop on the lift
  3. ‘I’ haven’t, but on my specialist’s try to remove the lower link stud it snapped :( the snap was two shades so think it may have had a hairline crack to start. Mike at Lotus bits is on the case, seems lefts sides aren’t a problem but right are rarer but he’s confident he can get one. Just hope it’s not to expensive
  4. Does anyone have a spare offside rear hub carrier for an 84 G Esprit that they would sell??
  5. Shiny! How did you get them so clean or did you send them somewhere?
  6. The Shell is £1 less per 1l top up bottle 😂 It’s gone from just under half to minimum on the dipstick after doing a 300 mile return trip for the Lotus 70th, if im just topping up this is what I’ve found in the garage would either be ok for a 1/4 litre top up or best to leave it on minimum? I have to drive it a short way on Saturday.
  7. I’m torn between the Castrol and Shell now! if I want to just top up a bit for a few weeks is it ok to use a bit of 10w/40? (Has valvoline 20w/50 at moment in)
  8. Personally i always use Tim at Lakeside Engineering, no one i trust more with my pride and joy
  9. I was thinking of the k&n oil filter as the hex on the end will no doubt aid fitting and removal as its located in an awkward place and seems to get good reviews. Oil wise im currently looking at the Castrol Edge 10w/60 which it seems most people use in the 9xx engines. Currently has valvoline (i believe 10w/60) which needs a top up unless i replace it all. Oil appears relatively clean on dip stick and was thinking about leaving it in a bit longer and just topping up?
  10. Ive now hit 1000 miles on the rebuilt engine and want to change the oil and filter. Any recommendations on a particularly good oil and filter? Also can anyone tell me what the volume difference is between min and max on the dip stick?
  11. Message Jo Chan (final edition) on here he may be able to help.
  12. Shock and spring looks in good condition? Good luck with the lower link studs!
  13. Mine are the same also being an 84 car. Some more research looks like also fitted to reliant scimitar as well and poss certain London taxis of that era
  14. Wayne, what car do the mirrors come off? Someone told be the other day but cant remember.
  15. ok another question - I was about to swap out the fitted one for the one i bought and checked the wiring diagram to double confirm correct position. Started engine, removed plug (still idling) spun the plug round correct way and plugged it in, no change, still idling fine revved it up a bit all fine??? I take it this mean its working fine?
  16. I have some info from another club list that could be him: Arno Griffioen Holland Cars - Elise S2 Honda, Purple pug 107 998cc 18-8-1969
  17. Looks like £20k's worth of work at least? I'd assume everything needs replacing/rebuilding looks as rough as they come
  18. Hi Chris. that was me Yep all new springs/shocks/bushes/nuts/bolts and washers all round now, drives great just need to finish running in and get the carbs tuned as it stutters a bit. Wing mirrors are on my list of things to do as well
  19. Little resurrection here. I've managed to get an original equipment Lucas rev limiter for the grand sum of £10! (£190 from SJ!?) Is there any way to dead test this component other than it will allow spark or not (easy test) Im more interested in testing that it will cut spark at the preset rpm limit?
  20. A little update for anyone interested, ive now completed the rear suspension refresh too now One shock was jamming a bit and were pretty rusty, most probably originals. Bushes weren't in bad shape at all really but all changed to poly ones anyway, links cleaned and painted and wheel arches repainted with underbody seal paint. Just new tyres and wheel alignment to do next!
  21. Any recommendations for tyre fitters that are careful around Surrey? Or would a mobile fitter be a good idea? (will take the wheels off myself and transport with new tyres)
  22. £40 for half a tank sounds right, they have 80 odd litre capacity. Pull the stick to get 5th? That's for reverse isn't it?
  23. How exactly did you get it out Barry? Ive taken the spacer from the top link inboard end and slid it over the stud and wound a nut on to the specified 120nm max torque to no avail, is that how you did it? i don't fancy cutting through the spacer and stud as there's no guarantee ill be able to get it out in two bits either although technically it should reduce the load required to shift it?
  24. Well I tried with a spacer and a nut on the end of the stud up to 120nm and it didn’t do a thing so I’m leaving it as is before I damage it and I’ll have to take it somewhere later. I can’t belive how easy one side came out and one side won’t budge.
