  1. Just been reading your rebuild of the Elite re: braided fuel lines from tank to engine and the fact that they're larger diameter than the original lines. I guess the openings need enlarging to cope. Can you tell me how many holes need enlarging and where are they positioned on the chassis. Thanks if you can help.

      Hi Howard,

If you look back through my thread you will see that I tried to show at the front where I had to enlarge the hole in the chassis - basically, where the chassis backbone narrows there is an entry at the front and an exit at the rear - all the holes are big enough to accommodate the pipe (As I recall - apologies, I haven't done much on my Elite for 5 yrs for various reasons!) but if, like me, you are using racing style joints, it is these that are bigger diameter and don't fit. The fitment of the unions is tricky to do if not in a vice so I wanted to do those 'off car' - this necessitated bigger holes. In the event, I only needed to make the hole at the front bigger. there is 1 or maybe 2 baffles along the inner section of the backbone - these are triangular and the join does fit through - with some wiggling - I did this using a length of narrow gauge wire - fed through the chassis and then attached to the pipe/union and pulled through. The rear hole I left as is and will fit the union in the boot once rooted. Hope that helps. Good luck!

if I think hard enough, if you fit the front union only, then feed the pipe from front to rear, you probably don't need to enlarge any holes! I did the enlarging thinking I would fit both unions and in the end realised I could probably fit the boot one in the car. You live and learn!!!
