  1. @BAS, it is minor errors, I had the same once when leaving the dealership after the service. No clear reason why it appeared, was cleared by the dealer (I only got a few miles away) and there was no effects afterwards. As far as I understand there is no such thing as cold start protection - I can rev mine all the way to the limit right after start
  2. There is >60 2017+ V6 Exiges for sale, which is a huge number, which tells me that there is not much of buying happening for these cars. Which pretty much makes sense - they are of interest either for fanboys or for people with very specific preferences about cars (at least in my opinion).
  3. Please let me know if going this route will be concluded as a likely option and if there is any economies of scale - I may well consider joining in.
  4. Hi Chris, no need to apologise - I've had limited amount of interaction, but it left me with a bit of thoughts indeed. I will drop you a note, as it could be useful in making good for the business. Also appreciate you stepping in directly. 👍
  5. I am reasonably confident that the following would hold true: - you would buy ex GST - you would pay 20% VAT in the UK - you will pay some amount of duty in the UK, probably wihtin 3-5% range (look up here - https://www.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/headings/8708?currency=EUR&day=23&month=10&year=2019) - taxes and duties would be calculated by the shipping company and requested from you on collection of the shipment - there will likely be some reasonable admin fee for processing the customs clearance for you, depends on the shipping company and I'd expect it to be anywhere in the range of 3-10% (you can check it with the shipping company in advance) I like your thinking and it very much matches what my thoughts were when I looked at TVS1900 options. My experience in engaging with Hofmanns did not impress me at all.
  6. Congratulations and good luck! Just keep in mind that it has a great chance of being far from really well put together and may require (quite) a bit of post factory care to bring it closer to more of a modern car in terms of quality and functionality. Totally enjoyable to drive though and fantastic on trackdays. Being non daily will certain help with putting with "peculiarities".
  7. Same here, in 5th close to redline only with all the other gears being totally fine. Mine is on regularly changed Motul Gear300 75W90
  8. As far as I know, the answer is "no" (since Sport 350).
  9. Same here, I've used Moris last year for a set of trackdays. It was far from cheap, but I think it is better to do it than not.
  10. Was it not you who introduced an aspect of Cup 430 into this thread?
  11. I can't agree more on personal choice aspect - I personally would always prefer a brand new car made to my requirements.
  12. The cheapest Cup 430 there is £86,950 for a 2,569mi car, then there is more at £89,000+. Base price for Sport 410 is from £79,900, that's for a brand new car that noone's really sat in before you. I guess the numbers are clear. What is a bit shocking for me though, is that if you search for after 2016+ Exiges, there is 35 more than 1,000mi (so not new) cars for sale and none of those has any decent mileage on it (my September 2017 car has more miles on it than any of those). Which means to me that these cars are not really being driven by whoever owns them are are sold on rather frequently. To further entertain some of the sensitive locals - there is practically the same (38) number of ubiquitous Macan GTS's (with the same search of 2016+ and 1,000mi+), and even less (30) of Cayman GTS/GT4's (also the same criteria, although they are also all with very low mileage) - I wonder what does it say if you have many more new cars sold and the same or less number of cars on the secondary market.
  13. I just use PIAA - work fine (as for Lotus level of "fine").
  14. Indeed, this just seems to be a throwaway statement. Looks preferences are individual are can't be universally applied. In this same thinking, I actually prefer a previous version of the front clam. I'd not bother about this for a trackdays use. It's got enough protection for pretty much any non-competitive use, in my opinion. This is assuming one is not going there to "win a trackday" May be just random coincidence - there is a lot to improve, so each next car may be better at something than the previous one (and at the same time worse in something else)
  15. I can't agree more. #3 is quite fundamental (this is based on the bell being aluminium, while for the drum hand brake you need something to work against the shoe pads - it is possible with aluminium, but not every single 2-piece break disks are designed for this) for a not purely race car. Beyond that Komo-tec option does look a (tiny little) bit superior and makes sense to be the choice for somebody without subjective preferences between Alcon and PFC (which are both with excellent reputation). In terms of managing the replacements, brake pads are identical all around in both of the sets, disks are to be changed quite infrequently - so I'd say options are fairly equal on this. Fully agree, 2mm down is a fully legitimate replacement. 1mm on 26mm is also not far from sorting it out.
  16. https://www.brodit.co.uk worked fine for me (well, they took my money so far )
  17. Pads pricing makes no sense to me. Full set of DS Uno/DS1.11 (race compounds by a rather well respected manufacturer - https://www.ferodoracing.com/products/car-racing/racing-brake-pads/) is under £300. Important thing to keep in mind with 2-piece rotors is that, in addition to better cooling and reliability, they are also significantly lighter than 1-piece. Being unsprung mass it has very substantial impact on performance (similar to lighter wheels). I had a closer look at Seriously Lotus 2-piece disks (Alcon, which I've used extensively in the other car and am very happy with) and Komo-Tec (Performance Friction), and noticed the following things: 1) 32mm thickness in PFC vs 26mm (same as OEM) in Alcon. Thicker disks are better for longevity and heat resistance, but will be heavier 2) Dave states clearly that his set uses larger brake pads in the rear. This should theoretically be better for performance and longevity 3) Komo-Tec states that rear bells are handbrake compatible, can't see anything on this in Seriously Lotus. I'd check this as not all the 2-piece disks are handbrake-friendly 4) I read Komo-Tec website so that all the disks are fully floating, while in Seriously Lotus it is fronts only. Not a deal breaker, but fully floating are better for performance and longevity For me item 3 would be a killer, so I'd check that first and, if it is fine, go with Alcon from Seriously Lotus. Even though it is probably marginally less high-performance (we're talking about excellent brakes either way here), I'd just rely on my good experience with Alcon.
  18. Micro cracks are not a disaster (unless reaching the edge of the disc), although there is a lot of them in the fronts. What is the remaining thickness of the disks? As for the pads/disks ratio I can help with Exige yet - in my car with a very mixed use and original 1-piece cross-drilled disks I went through original pads, then DS2500, and now on DS Uno/DS1.11 with no signs of imminent replacement needs. But then original pads and DS2500 are not really aggressive pads.
  19. Is this because of material properties, geometry or just design differences?
  20. What specifically engine internals would you look at, Mark? Crankshaft, bearings, Conrods, pistons, valves, springs, camshafts, anything else?
  21. Theoretically if DPM is anyhow on, difference in wheel speed will result in intervention. However, I am in the same "can't fathom" camp for why would it matter if DPM is fully off and the car is theoretically fully mechanical in terms of transmission.
  22. I'll be really surprised if she finds an Exige as an acceptable car for regular driving instead of Z4
  23. What are the differences you've observed? Are they both the same level of noise? 👨‍🔧
  24. No worries at all, it is really subjective and obviously tastes differ. My reaction was only linked to a patronising and unnecessary tone employed by a specific contributor.
