Weight of S1 gearbox and courier service
GordonMasson replied to GordonMasson's topic in Gearchange/Gearbox/Clutch
ok thanks guys.... I was thinking it would be a bit lighter but perhaps im wrong. Any recommendations for courier, seems like they choke at that sort of weight? -
Hi folks. Can anyone tell me what the weight of an S1 gearbox with the bell housing would be please? Also looking for a decent courier who wouldn't charge the earth to ship it from Aberdeen down to Northampton.... any idea of cost? Thanks

Esprit factory active suspension development car

That was Mikes retirement. There must have been some better pictures but that was the only one that I managed to get a hold of. -
Esprit factory active suspension development car
GordonMasson replied to Stuart Monument's topic in For Sale
When we were at the “100 Esprit's Event” at Hethell, Brian asked if he could borrow 100G for a couple of months to do the suspension program for the S1 / S2's The few months turned into 5 years and as Bibs says they got to the point where Lotus wouldn't commit to "pushing the button" and getting the springs and dampers manufactured as sales items. I am very fortunate to have the development set on my car. I remember seeing the Active Suspension car when I was visiting the factory once. It was through at the stair well and my car was in the reception. I'm not sure if I have any pictures of it from that visit but I will have a look. 100G was used for various displays while it was there and also spent a period in the design studio, (apparently as a source of inspiration) and It was used as a backdrop when MJK retired. I also managed to get a few pics of it outside what used to be the front of the factory where the orange S1 was pictured. -
Im sure this has been asked before.....somewhere.... but has anyone ever managed to get this working on an iPad?

LEGS - Breakfast meet 6th November
GordonMasson replied to bingoking's topic in UK - LEGS (Lotus Enthusiast Group Scotland)
Morning guys, The dreaded GT3 ABS warning light is on again, this time it starts flashing then goes solid and then the handbrake light comes on solid as well. The pressure switch is sticking on the pump.... a calibrated thwak with a hammer sorts the issue but not something I want to drive with over any distance so I am going to have to pull out of the Breakfast Club on Sunday. Shame because it sounded like a good one..... hope we can do it again next year. Have a good day guys. Gordon -
No, that was on 1st August on the way home from Louth after the photo shoot. Set off at first light to beat the traffic... great run

Hi Alan... been meaning to put an update up for this for a while but never got round to it. Will do it soon. For now though, yes, we went to BBC Lincoln and then to Louth and did the photo shoot. It was a great day........

Sorry to add another new post to this but yet again I have an ABS warning light on but this time it's different than on a previous occasion which was fixed by the local garage. There are so many posts on here that I am confused as to what are actually fixes for the ABS (if any) and what are people taking things apart and trying different things or fitting alternative parts in place of the original..... Which replacement option actually works and is available? The car is a 97 Esprit GT3 - not the V8 brake system unfortunately First point, the brakes have always worked but the feel of them is very woody with no feedback and the pedal is very hard but hit them hard and the car stops fine. Driven a later GT3 and its like night and day. The feel of the brakes on my run around 2001 Fiesta is more confidence inspiring So here is the situation....... 1. Turn on the ignition on and the pump will run for a few seconds as normal. 2. Start the engine and the ABS light goes out 3. Drive off and all the lights remain off 4. After about 1 minute ABS light starts to flash 5. Within the next couple of minutes the hand brake light comes on solid and the ABS light changes from flashing to solid 6. Brakes continue to work with the same feel and performance but I assume the ABS is off although I haven't had a chance to check this out braking very heavily. 7. Brake lights are working I ran diagnostics on the car and got this so from my basic understanding it looks like everything runs as it should and then the system fails to pressurise.? Any thoughts please. From reading all the info on here it seems possible that one of the connections are bad or a relay has dirty contacts. If someone could post a few pics of the things to clean up or give a clear description of what they are and where I would find them I would really appreciate it. Thanks

Yup, could well be... certainly heading that way on 31st July from Silverstone over to Lincoln for the photo-shoot at Louth Golf Club

Hi folks, Thanks for your participation in this event. The Transport Museum will get back to you with full details but as the track runs are from 2 to 4 pm you will probably have to be there around 13:30 for the drivers briefing. I am at the Silverstone Classic this weekend so I wont be there this time but I hope you have a great day and the weather is kind. Please take a few pictures and post them up if you have a chance. Cheers Cars attending: Lotus Elise S2 K-Series (Schultz) Lotus Elan M100 (John Walsh) Lotus Exige S2 240s (PunyGod)

S1 / S2 Rear Brake Calliper - URGENT My 76 S1 is currently at Lotus bits for repair of an oil leak and apparently the rear nearside calliper has seized, probably because the hand brake was pulled on too tight when the car was on the top sloping deck of a transporter on its way down south. The car is due to be on show at Silverstone next week and then going for a photo-shoot on Monday 1st. Does anyone have a calliper I could buy or can lend me one so I can get the car moving? I believe the calliper is common for S1's, S2's and early S3's This is really urgent so please let me know if you can help in anyway? Thanks Gordon

Hi George, Interesting theories there! Not been able to track down Angie although I haven't given up. There is a model agency down there who have said they might be able to provide a model but it its a "we will provide a model, she is £*** a day" then it may be prohibitive to go professional. To be honest that doesn't bother me anyway. It would be fantastic if I could track down the model but I also want to get a girl about the same age.... I'm guessing early 20's to do the pic too. There is a movie prop agency who said they have the fur coat, hat and flairs available. I tracked down the photographer who has since passed away and he told me that the photo was used for a local newspaper article, nothing directly related to the factory. Totally unrelated to the search for the mystery lady, I had an e-mail from the daughter of the garage owner who originally sold the car. She wasn't aware of the photo but all going well she is going to come along when the photo is taken.Having a picture of her with the car is a great tie back to the start of the story.

I have had a request from Grampian Transport Museum to ask for some help with cars for their "Fast Car Rides" day on Friday 29th July. Its great way to spend a couple of hours as I am sure all the regular participants in our events at the museum will agree. Drop me a note if you are interested and I will let them know. From GTM..... "I wondered if you could ask any of your club members if they would be interested in taking part in the Fast Car Rides afternoon on Friday, 29th July at the museum from 2-4 pm. There would be lunch, a fuel voucher and free museum entry for anyone who wanted to participate."
