  1. Can someone tell me why the battery was relocated on the late S1
  2. I totally agree but it looks best with a fixed roof..... It was actually a 308 i wanted 23 years ago when i bought my car but there were even fewer 308's about than there were Esprits. However, there are a few things in this world that have iconic shapes that will always stand out. Spitfire Fender Stratocaster (guitar) Marilyn Monroe Ferrari 308 in Rosso Red Mind you, not everyone agrees.... 308 didn
  3. Now that would be somthing i would pay a LOT of money to own.... dont have one of them that i could swap for a World War 1 Post card do you Kimbers???? I would love to get some Esprit literature with Colin Chapmans autograph on it (especialy if it was S1 related ... can you help here Kimbers )... it would really complete the collection of things i have to go with the car. I have looked on Ebay a few times but how would you know it was genuine? Anyway ... if any one out there does have the great mans autograph on Esprit S1 literature i will go get my credit card out
  4. It was mailed to me as a Powerpoint show from one of the guys at work. From the text of the earlier thread which i hadnt seen it looks like the story has been tweaked a bit for extra impact ... as if it needs that. Seems there is a very fine line between an awsome hoon and a near death experience
  5. I have to say that I agree with you here. I detest speed humps and they are a real ball ache to get the car over
  6. Well i would do BUT.... When i heard the book was being produced (and bear in mind this was before i knew who you were or realised what a grade A bloke your dad is) i went to Coterie Press and told them i wanted to buy book number one of the publishers edition copies but i wanted the first book to go with the first car. Well it was a good plan but they ended up keeping me book 1 of 250 of the limited edition version and it was actually book No. 1 of 100 of the Publisher's Edition that i wanted... which they had sold!! In the end i bought book number 100 of 100 of the Publisher's Edition (Chassis number 0100G) AND book number 1 of 250 of the limited edition... both of which were signed by your Dad As i said i didnt realise that it would be possible to get your dad to sign it with any special inscription but i did ask Jeremy Walton to sign them "In recognition of the First Production car Chassis Number 0100G... which he did BUT for some inexplicable reason he actually wrote "Signed and poorly packed. Jeremy Walton" in my
  7. Sounds good to me Wayne....Thanks By the way guys... with regards to other pics... i just received a Thoroughbred & Classic Car mag from April 1985 with the bit i posted earlier about the gold S2. It also has a section on the Lotus 23 B If anyone wants it scanned then let me know.
  8. Hi Mark Yes I had seen that before but i hadn
  9. Wayne If you are going to request some pics can you ask for anything on the S1 for me please..... if there is a cost involved i will pay for the S1 pics if someone else getes the others Same S2 pic ... different source
  10. Im not sure Wayne. Someone did once tell me it had been sold to a guy in Norway who had put a Rover V8 into it and done some other "upgrades".... i think it was turbo skirts etc. No idea if that was true or not.
  11. Yes ive got that one thanks Mark and yes it could be my car but no way of knowing for sure. When my car was first produced it didnt have the Lotus badge on the front : you can just see it in this press photo which must have been taken when the car was very new as you can still see the part number stickers on the front lamps. Some time soon after that it was changed and a badge was put on and the logo changed to Esprit... no idea why. No this was a pre production car Wayne... the rear panel was different and the tail pipes are cut on a slope. If you look at the interior shots in the brochure you will also see the air vents are round rather than rectangular as well.
  12. Nice car Bibs but who is the ugly bloke holding it up doing the kilroy woz here bit ???
  13. Wayne Just on the off chance you see anything on S1's can you give me a shout so i can add it to the collection. Thanks
  14. Small world Wayne!! Yep thats the pic im talking about... its only a 6 x 4 but i had never seen it before and it has an Ital Design stamp on the back. If you want a copy of it i can scan it for you and print it on glossy paper so it will look pretty much the same as the origonal. I think i now have all the origonal magazines featured on Lotus Esprit World and a few others about the S1. And Fraser managed to outbid the rest of the gathering at the Factory weekend for the S1 newspaper report from 1975 and MJK very kindly signed it for us I also have all the other bits and bobs you can collect about the S1 ... models, kits etc etc. Seems we all have our a World War 1 post card collection ... of sorts.
  15. Im with you on that one Wayne One thing i have been doing over the past 23 years is buying every magazine or brochure or newspaper article i can find ...(mainly on the S1 i have to say) and the intention is to put it all on a web site eventually when i get the time. There are a few gems come up from time to time... managed to get a hold of a 1975 sketch from Mr G from the paris show a few months back which i had not seen before and im always on the look out for other things. Im not sure what the copyright situation is with doing that ... perhaps someone can tell me? I own the site name so that
  16. I bought an everyday runabout car last year which had a personalised plate on it but it didnt change the number of owners wehn the plate was put on or when it was taken off to replace it with the origonal number for the car
  17. Hi Wayne Take a look here : http://www.grouplotus.com/grp/grp_gallery....4&pageID=7# You may find some pics that you like? Cheers Gordon
  18. Now here is somthing spooky for you .... when we went to the factory weekend it was the first time i had been to Hethel so on the Saturday afternoon, Fraser and i set off to the factory just to look at the place. Typed the post code for the factory into the GPS and headed off withought a clue where i was going and you know where it took me to .... the front door of Ketteringham Hall!!! Took a couple of pics and would have loved to get one of the car sitting at the front door but decided it would be a bit cheeky. Switched off the SatNav and switched it back on again and it took me right to the front door of the factory. How weird is that!
