  1. Wow that looks absolutely fantastic, the gold wheels make such a difference 👌👌👌👌
  2. Hi Will, the red and gold combo sounds lovely 😜, could you please post some photo’s…..
  3. Jeez 😱😱😩😩, barge pole and wouldn’t touch comes to mind IMO 😳😳
  4. I just had the belt changed and that cured the issue …..
  5. This simply isn’t good enough, it really isn’t 😩😩
  6. All sorted it was just the belt nothing else 😀, the car only had it’s 4 year big service a year ago which includes the belt charge, I’ve just been unlucky there I guess. Cheers, Phill
  7. So got a friend to do the throttle blipping and although not easy to locate the noise I’m fairly sure it’s coming from the belt area on the RHS of the engine bay, I’ll get my local specialist to investigate.
  8. Recently my car has developed a strange chirping noise coming from the engine, it’s there at startup from cold and frequency increases with rpm, it disappears when driving both under load and when the engine is warm. Car drives as normal but it’s annoying and a bit embarrassing when driving round town. Has anyone experienced this before or has an idea as to what it may be please. Thanks, Phill Car noise .m4a
  9. @bosshog yeah I can appreciate what you are saying but I was comparing my 2018 400 with the 981 GT4 as that was my situation, even though the 981 is 3 years older than my 400 there would still be around a £20k cost to swap. I like the rawness of an analogue car which is why I considered the 981 I can’t see the 718 gts providing that really.
  10. Thanks for your input guys I’ve now had a test drive in a GT4, and here’s where I’m at. The performance between the two is very close really close actually with the Evora producing more torque at lower revs with being forced induction but it’s not a night and day difference. For myself the noise of a car is very important and here it’s an easy win for the Evora which I was surprised at, the exhaust button makes a much bigger difference at low revs and even at high revs where I thought the GT4 would be the best by quite a margin it really wasn’t. The steering was pretty good in the GT4 considering it’s EPAS was less busy overall, but didn’t talk to you like the Lotus so no surprise there then. Onto the gearbox yes the Cayman was better but not by as much as I was expecting. Onto the handling the Cayman was very good for a track focused car not at all to hard on the road, it felt really planted and has a slightly stiffer set up than the Lotus which as we all know is magical. Another win for the Cayman is the seating the car I drove had the optional 918 buckets and they are superb hold you in brilliantly and are super comfortable. Build quality of the Cayman is better for sure and felt really solid, personally I find the Evora is pretty good in this respect but not brilliant I suppose in a car of this price when new, the Evora is fine in my opinion in this aspect but in an direct comparison could do a little better. Onto the looks well I’m not going to be biased here but OMG there really is no contest here it’s got to be the Lotus easily and of course they are so much rarer. As my car is my only one it’s a daily and you could daily the Cayman as well, however the front splitter on the Porsche is pretty low and caution would be the order of the day regarding this. The Porsche doesn’t have a reversing camera or sensors this would make parking a real pain in day to day use despite the large rear spoiler providing a reference point. So overall as a road car the Evora for me is the better car, for track work then no doubt the GT4 would be a better choice. The GT4 would’ve had to have been a significantly better drive in order for me to swap, but in fact the Lotus is the better drive for myself, the Lotus 400 is a fair bit cheaper to buy and no doubt run. So it’s an easy conclusion in my opinion the Lotus is the better car for UK roads, more fun, more noise, better value, better looks. Overall I was pleasantly surprised at just how good the 400 is against such a highly regarded opponent. Hope you all find my review usefull and count ourselves so fortunate that we are driving such a wonderfull British sports car. Cheers, Phill (delighted owner of an Evora 400)
  11. Thank you 👌 it was the reason I bought this particular car, lots of folk comment on the colour 😜
  12. So I’m very happy with my 400 I’ve had for 2 years, however I keep wondering how would a GT4 compare 🤷‍♀️, as a Lotus owner it’s all about the drive for me hence why I’m in the 400. Would have to spend a fair bit to get into a car that’ll be 3 years older although it doesn’t bother me actually. Has anyone among us owned one ? or knows a friend who has maybe ? All comments gratefully received either good or bad. Just to reiterate in more than happy with the Evora but curious about how good a GT4 would be, I only run one car so a daily but not intention of doing track days. Cheers, Phill
  13. @Philsport300 I assume you’ve seen the one in Aspen white at Central Lotus ? I’ve posted previously I was the 2nd owner swapped to a 400 in 2020. It’s a very good example but pretty pricey though, they’ve had it since August mind …… Phill
  14. Just been trawling round the forum and found this thread, I do feel the 400 seats are a bit too high compared with my previous sports racer. Just wondering have many people actually done the above and feel that it’s a definite improvement ? Cheers Phill
  15. The aquamarine looks SO much better with the silver wheels 👌
  16. Decided I hadn’t been out for a decent drive for a while, so once the rain stopped thought I do a couple of hours run yesterday 😀, even though the car was pretty dirty it still photographed well 👌
  17. Cheers Bibs, Must admit forgot about how different colours absorb heat a schoolboy error on my part, maybe it should have been an option to have the airbag cover painted white, silver or gold 🤣🤣. Think I’ll crack on and modify my sunscreen to cover the airbag area 👌. I’ll echo your sentiments about the black vinyl seats, blimey things were so much different back in the 70’s, and generally not for the better @mg4lotus thanks for your input but I think it’s only the earlier models with regards to what you say, the 4xx models are slightly different in that regards, things do improve over time it seems 😀
  18. So I’ve been using the sunshade which does the job, the thing is it’s fairly bulky and I end up just putting it over the air bag area, I’m considering maybe just cutting a piece of sufficient size to do the job and it wouldn’t be so bulky then. So I’m wondering when the airbag pops would the opinion be that it’s really the sun directly shining on it or the ambient temperature created in the car on a hot sunny day ? I’m thinking probably just covering the airbag would be sufficient ? Cheers, Phill
  19. Well your probably right there, however I’m MORE in love with my 400 👌
  20. Chaps, I have some information for anyone considering this car, it’s all good, it’s my old car which I traded in at Hoffmans’s for my 400 in May 2020, I had it for 2 enjoyable years. When in my ownership I would say it was probably one of the best N/A’s available, when I traded it in of course. The only thing I would note is that the rear has been debadged for some reason ? I fitted the carbon door handles which IMO lift the cabin nicely, in fact having moved house recently I found the originals which anyone on here can have if you want them. One thing that isn’t mentioned (I’m sure the invoice was with the paperwork) however is that I had focal speakers and dynamite type soundproofing installed, and it did indeed prove a significant improvement over the sound of the standard set up even keeping the standard Head unit. I also had the wheels refurbished just prior to me swapping. Reading this back sounds like I have an interest in the car now but I assure you I haven’t, just thought I’d contribute to the great forum we have by giving as much information as possible. Pretty sure the current owner isn’t on here. The sold as seen seems strange at a Lotus dealer to me, I think quite a few of Lotus Silverstone cars are sale or return and expect they come with a warranty. It’s top end pricing and is significantly more than when I swapped, but the 400’s have increased quite a bit as well. Hope this helps someone. Cheers, Phill
  21. Anyone out there who knows of a course of action to take regarding this please ? Cheers, Phill
  22. @C8RKH That colour is stunning, I’m pretty fussy about colours and do like my blues, I get a lot of comments off folk who say mine is a lovely colour (which I agree of course) but I think the fire red probably to my eye is THE best colour in the Evora, lovely 👌
